It was finally time to go home. Our bags were packed and we were on our way to the airport to fly home. I was exhausted from the constant travel and so happy to be going home to my little girl. Luckily, we had a driver taking us back to our home because Austin and I were incredibly tired.
Once the plane landed, we got off and into the car that was waiting for us nearby. I fell asleep in the car and was woken up by Austin when we were pulling into the driveway of our home. Winter came running out as the car parked. I got out and scooped her up when she got close. She was a giggling mess as I swung her around.
"You're back!" Winter exclaimed. "I was waiting all day!"
"Why don't you help carry some of our stuff in?" I said as I set her down.
Winter grabbed one of our bags as Austin and I carried the rest of our stuff. My parents greeted us as we came inside. Austin and I went to our rooms and started unpacking. All of our clothes had to go into the laundry and I started that as Austin went back downstairs.
I was by myself for about a half an hour before Austin came to find me. He pulled me into a hug and kissed me softly.
"Your mom made dinner and it's ready," Austin said. "Everyone else is downstairs eating if you want to come join."
I yawned. "Okay. I'll be down."
"You're tired, huh?" Austin asked. "I can bring dinner up for you if you want."
"No, it's okay," I said. "I'll come down."
Austin kissed my forehead and left the room. I followed him after a minute and sat at the table. Mom placed a plate in front of me and I started eating. It was a spaghetti and meatballs, one of my favorite meals. Winter sat next to me, eating her food quietly. I ruffled her hair, smiling at her.
"Austin showed me what you guys got me," Winter said. "I liked the gifts a lot. Thanks for getting them for me."
"You're welcome, baby," I said. "We thought you'd like something from our trip."
"It got me thinking," Winter said. "I'd like to go on an international trip one day. I know Austin goes on tour a lot so maybe when he's on tour and he goes somewhere out of the country, I'd like to go. If that's possible, that is."
"We'll see if it is," Austin said. "I'd love to bring you to my shows when possible. If you want to go to the international ones, then we have to get you a passport."
"Just as long as I can go," Winter said. "I want to make memories."
"And we'll do just that," Austin said. "I promise."
Winter held out her pinky. "Do you pinky promise?"
Austin took her pinky in his. "Until the day I die."
We finished dinner and I helped put the dishes away before returning to my room. I changed into pajamas and climbed into bed, turning the tv on. I was watching some documentary when Austin came in about an hour later. He kissed me as he was getting ready for bed.
"How are you feeling?" Austin asked.
"Tired and my head hurts a little," I replied. "I think it's because I hadn't drank that much water. How are you feeling?"
"Also tired," Austin replied. "Winter wanted to hear everything about the trip. She really wants to go on a trip soon. I was thinking sometime in the summer when she's not in school. I should be filming for a music video so she can come with me."
"That'd be nice for her to see that process," I said. "I think she'll like that."
Austin and I chatted a little bit before we fell asleep. It only felt like a few minutes had passed before I woke up. As I sat up, I realized the bed was empty. I got out of bed and went to the kitchen to get something to eat. Austin was in the kitchen with Winter and Mom. The three of them were making breakfast and had most of it done.
"Good morning," Mom said. "You slept in."
I rubbed my eyes. "What time is it?"
"It's nine thirty in the morning," Winter said. "Usually you're up at like, seven."
I ruffled her hair. "I had a long day yesterday. What are you guys making for breakfast?"
"Pancakes and eggs," Winter answered. "Dad is letting me flip some of the pancakes."
"That's great," I said. "Mom, when's your flight again?"
"It's at one this afternoon," Mom replied. "We should probably leave at ten thirty to get there on time."
"Of course," I said. "I'll drive you there."
"Can I come?" Winter asked. "It's a Saturday and I want to do something today."
"Definitely," I said. "Babe, what are your plans for today?"
"I'm going to go to the recording studio this afternoon so I can't come with," Austin said. "I make sure to say goodbye before you guys leave."
We ate breakfast and afterwards, we moved Mom and Dad's stuff into my Impala. Austin came out to say goodbye to my parents. After everything was over with, we left to go to the airport. Winter was in the back with Dad and she was chatting his ear off. He didn't mind, as my daughter was his favorite person on the planet.
The trip to the airport wasn't that bad. I parked on the curb and helped my parents take their stuff out of the trunk. We hugged them one last time before they went inside. Winter got into the front seat with me and we headed back home. I felt a little nauseous on the way home. I thought back to the conversation that I had with Austin about possibly being pregnant.
To be sure, I stopped at the store to buy a pregnancy test along with a few other things. Winter didn't notice that I grabbed the test. When we got home, I unloaded the stuff from the car and went into the house with Winter. After she helped unload the groceries, Winter went into her room. I grabbed the pack of pregnancy tests and went to the bathroom.
I took one and waited the time that I needed to before I checked it. Positive. I took the other one and it was also positive. I placed my hands on my hips, looking at both of them. If I was really pregnant, I wanted to go to a doctor to get an ultrasound before I told Austin. I didn't want to get his hopes up and it turn out that the tests were false positives.
I picked up my phone and called a doctor's office to set up an appointment. There had been a cancelation so there was an opening the next day. I hung up, looking at my phone screen. I had just gotten married and I was already pregnant. I knew Austin wanted children of his own but I hadn't planned on getting pregnant right after our wedding.
I was going to keep the baby, of course, and a little twinge of excitement sparked in my stomach. I was excited to have a baby with Austin and I hoped a little bit that it was a girl. Austin was already an amazing girl dad and I had a feeling that any children we had in the future were going to be girls.
