It had been a couple of weeks since Winter and I moved in with Austin. Everything was going well and Austin was even throwing us a party to meet his friends and family. I had yet to meet his parents and I was a bit nervous to meet them. I usually won over my partner's parents. I did well enough with Anmol's family that his family stayed after he died. Granted, I also had given birth to their granddaughter.

About an hour before the party, I started getting Winter and I ready. I wanted us to look presentable for the guests. I brushed and braided Winter's hair into two braids. She picked out her own outfit while I went to change. I found a black and white plaid skirt to put on. I matched it with a black shirt with ghosts and mushrooms on it. I put my hair into a long braid and went to join Austin. A few guests had already arrived and I greeted them.

Winter was already in the backyard with a few other kids. She seemed to be having a good time, if not a bit awkward. I kept an eye on her as I mingled with the others.

A song came on and I recognized it as dose by Teddy Swims. I smiled and looked around to find Austin. As I was looking, the people started moving away from me and staring at me. I was confused until a pair of arms wrapped around me.

"'Love how you kiss every tattoo on my face,'" Auston sang, spinning me around to face him. "'Yeah, it's the time and place.'"

I laughed. "What's going on?"

Austin held onto my hands, smiling at me. "MacKenzie Haas, you are everything that I've been looking for. You are kind, beautiful, and you came to me in the middle of the night like a thief. You stole my heart and I don't want it back. You also gave me a daughter that I love more than anything." Austin got down on one knee, pulling out a box. He opened it to show a simple but beautiful ring. "MacKenzie, will you do the honor of becoming my wife?"

I covered my mouth with my hands, tears starting to form in my eyes. "Yes, Austin, yes! A thousand times, yes!"

Austin stood up, placing his hands on both sides of my face. Everyone around us cheered. When Austin pulled away, he put the ring on my finger and pulled me into a hug. Winter joined us and we pulled her into a group hug.

Winter looked up at me. "Did you like it, Mommy?"

I nodded, brushing her hair out of her face. "I did, baby. What about you?"

"I loved it. I even helped plan it," Winter said. "I get a new dad out of it."

I smiled. "That's true."

Austin picked her up, even though she was heavy. "I also get a daughter who I love dearly. Do you want anything to eat, baby girl?"

Winter nodded and they walked over to the food table. I looked down at the ring on my hand. It was simple and light but it still looked beautiful. Austin took my advice on what kind of ring that I wanted but also took his own twist on it. It looked good on my hand and was light enough that I barely felt it.

I joined the others and kept talking. The party went on for another hour before people started leaving. Winter disappeared off into her room as I helped clean up. As I was washing some dishes, Ausin came up behind me and wrapped his arms around me as he buried his head into my shoulder.

"Do you know how much I love you, Mack?" he asked.

"Enough to put a ring on my finger," I replied.

"More than that," he mumbled. "Winter helped me pick out the ring. She's a smart girl."

"She's the best," I said.

"I can't believe I'm getting a daughter," Austin said. "A great one, at that."
