Hell is empty,
all the Devils are here.
~ William Shakespeare
_____________The rest of the ride was uneventful.
As they drove deeper in the woods, Marcella kept quiet, thinking everything over. Possible scenarios and prevention tactics she could use to get herself out of trouble.
Would her brother be safe now that she broke their deal? She wondered. Would he pay for her mistakes? The rest of the money they owed Bangtan, what would they do to him to get it back ? Would they force Danny to sell the house or her bike? Would they simply kill him as well?
She shook her head trying to force the thoughts away.
She wondered if Suga would give her time to explain herself or if he'd simply take her out of the car, plant a bullet in her head and leave her for dead. Would he even take the time to dig her a proper grave, or would he just leave her corpse wherever it landed to rot before desiccating. Not that she cared particularly what would happen to her body once she died. Marcella never really believed in God or the afterlife.
She wondered why he was talking her out of town if he was going to just kill her. There were plenty of places he could've offed her in town as well. Bangtan execution points etc.
She saw the trees getting lesser and lesser as they neared an opening at the top of the road. The path was getting trickier to follow and more bumpy as they went further up. She understood now why he specifically asked for JK's car, the Jeep was hardly slowed down by the bumpy road. It was more fitted for the situation than any of their other vehicles.
"Just tell me where you're taking me," she begged at last. "It's not that I can do anything about it."
Her defeated tone caused him to glance at her a few times before saying at last.
"You know when we're there."
Not ten minutes later, he pulled over.
They had reached what seemed to be the top of the cliff.
She didn't move a muscle, simply waiting frozen in her spot as he opened the door and got out unbothered, without sparing her a single glance. she watched him round the car and head towards the edge of the road. In the early twilight is was hard to see everything clearly, yet could hear in the distance the sound of the waves crashing against hard stones. If she had guessed correctly, this was the edge of a cliff.
She watched him walk all the way to where the path was interrupted and sit on a rock on the very edge of the cliff. Ignoring her existence, he rolled up a cigarette. His back turned to her, he simply sat there and smoked.
Marcella chuckled.
It was surreal. Was he this certain she wouldn't escape? Did he simply not care? Was this some sort of a test?
