We don't even ask for happiness,
Just a little less pain.

Two months ago,

The dogs barked restlessly.

It was in the middle of the night, somewhere in the misty woods of Kumotori mountain, where a girl with long ripped jeans and white shirt run for her life. Her long, brown, wavy hair was full of tree leaves and tangled in awful twists, her feet bare and bloody.

She had escaped her captors and the price was high indeed. The hard ground had torn the flesh of her feet a long time ago, blood and dirt mixing together as she runs in the night as if she was chased from death itself. To be honest, she would take the Grim Ripper over these miserable excuses for humans.

She should feel her feet throbbing and complaining but she didn't. Adrenaline being the main reason she barely felt any pain. The lack of moonlight was what caused her to trip and fall to the ground. She landed on her elbows, the broken tree leaves and hard rocks bruising and biting into her skin, tearing it open even more.

Great, more blood! She sassed.

Not realizing she had twisted her ankle until she stood up, adding pressure to it. She let out a scream, and immediately tried to conceal it as best as she could, she failed. This time her knees got ripped as well, wearing ripped jeans wasn't the brightest idea she had, but in her defense, she wasn't expecting to be kidnapped in the middle of the streets in brod daylight.

One thing was sertain, if she survived this, she would never forget her first trip to Japan.

On the bright side, at least she got to see the pandas up close.

Guided by her terror and rush of adrenaline, the girl pushed her body to its limits. Her lungs screamed at her to stop but she wouldn't pay attention to her weaknesses when the barking of the dogs grew louder and louder.

These damn trees were too weak to cover her if she climbed them. Even if she did though, there was little chance she would lose the hounds, they were following her scent and if she hoped to lose them, she should do something else entirely. Not stopping for a second, she took off her shirt, running down the hill and throwing it as far as she could. It lunches into a bush, from a distance, it looked like someone was hiding there.

"Perfect," she whispered, her heart in her mouth, not taking even one second's rest, knowing the hounds were close and hearing their terrible growls.

She traced her steps backward as best as she could and darted towards the opposite direction, trying to jump as much as she could to make sure the dogs would follow the opposite direction instead of the one she was actually taking.

The light from their flashlights was now visible to her, she didn't stop to look back though. There was a lake here, somewhere, if memory served right. Reaching that lake could potentially mean her salvation. The water would erace her trace, she would walk along the water, or swim alongside it, if the water was too deep for her to walk.
