AS SAM ran, she held a revolver in one hand and a knife in the other hand.

Behind her, she could feel Dustin's eyes on her but if she looked back to check on him, she would lose a second of coming closer to Eddie. And said Eddie was nowhere to be seen. Sam kept looking inside the tornado made out of bats, trying to find Eddie but he wasn't standing and the scream she heard from him seconds ago was frightening enough to send Sam reeling with fear.

As she neared, eyes narrowed and body ready for a fight, Sam finally saw him. She couldn't see him previously because yes, Eddie was indeed not standing.

Eddie was on the ground trying to fight for air.

There were two bats baring into Eddie's sides, biting chunks of skin and five bats were holding him down with their tails. Legs, hands and neck tied with the three tailed bats and each of them were pulling on different directions as if trying to tear Eddie apart. Eddie, on the other hand, looked like he was suffocating, like he couldn't breathe. His face was deep red under the blue halo of the Upside Down and the red lightning only made the scene even more horrifying than it already was.

"Eddie!"

Sam's voice echoed over the shrieking of bats, loud and strangled.

She didn't waste a second and jumped right inside the formed tornado, feet sprinting towards Eddie who was, to Sam's horror, dying right in front of her.

She didn't waste a second, didn't think of anything as she put the revolver back in its holder and took another knife, immediately cutting the tail on Eddie's throat to let him breathe. Eddie's eyes were wide, brown and huge. They were staring at Sam as the girl tried not to panic - which she was failing miserably with - and cut the tail, cursing at how thick the bat's skin was. Her hands were shaking, there was bat blood on her from cutting and her eyes were spilling tears like a waterfall.

"Eddie, oh god, hold on!" Sam begged, trying to reassure him and also trying to hurry up. Her mind was blank, her eyes were full of tears and god, it hurt seeing Eddie like this. It hurt. A lot. "Don't die on me, come on, I'm almost done!"

Around them, the bats were narrowing the spinning circle. Some of them were getting close and Sam knew if she didn't hurry, she'll get caught by their tails too. She didn't want that, of course. If she got caught then she won't be able to save Eddie.

Finally Sam's shaky hands managed to cut the tail and Eddie let out an agonised sharp breath.

"I- I ran out of ammo." Eddie gasped, eyes wide and chest raising and falling rapidly.

Sam didn't have time to reply, mind spinning and cheeks dirty with tears before she was running to cut the head of the bat that was strangling Eddie's neck and then rushing to yank off the bats that were eating him alive. Eddie was trying to breathe, taking irregular breaths and releasing them just as fast as they got in. Sam's heart clenched in pain as she listened to his pained gasps and screams at each nible from the bats.

"Jesus fucking- die!" Sam screamed, trying to keep herself in tact.

Sam was panicking. A lot. She was horrified. All she could think of was Eddie, Eddie, Eddie, Eddie.

After a struggle because of her anxiety and shaky hands, Sam managed to kill off the two bats but now she was panicking even more because Eddie was bleeding. A lot. Too much. There was blood spilling down Eddie's stomach and Sam tried to ignore the way there was a bit of skin torn on the ground. Just lying there. Eddie's skin. Oh god, Sam was going to puke or die from crying.
