THE FIVE of them were kneeling down under Skull Rock - or well, what was supposed to be Skull Rock only now looking very grim and unpleasant.

The shrieking of bats echoed around them like a broken record. Sam glanced around the group. She was in between Eddie and Nancy and she could feel the fear radiating off of the two of them. While Nancy was sort of keeping it strong, Eddie seemed to slowly lose his mind. Sam could see his wide soft eyes watch the sky above with horror and pure fear. She could see him trying to contain himself, trying to stay calm.

Sam glanced at shaking Robin and Steve as they, too, watched the sky before reaching out to rest her hand on top of Eddie's shoulder.

Eddie's eyes snapped towards her, startled at first before relaxing a bit as soon as their eyes met. Under normal circumstances, Sam wouldn't have been worried about the thoughts she was having at the moment but right now, trying to hide from monster-looking bats, Sam wanted to slap herself.

Now the thoughts she was having as Eddie and Sam kept staring at each other as if trying to mute the world out and pretend they aren't hiding from monsters, the thoughts were nowhere near what Sam was used to. Robin's words replayed in her mind like a music box. She kept thinking about what Robin said, about how Eddie had acted towards her and fucking hell if she wasn't a simp for someone with a personality like Eddie. He was kind, weird, a freak. He was pretty, handsome, attractive and hot. Eddie Munson was every bit of what Sam had always searched for in someone.

Okay well, except the freak part but hey, that's what made Eddie... well, Eddie. And Sam loved every bit of his freak self.

But if she had a crush on him like Robin keeps stating, was still a silent mystery to her.

Eddie's eyes were fixed on Sam's so Sam, despite feeling terrified herself, squeezed Eddie's shoulder, telling him that it was okay, that it was going to be okay.

Eddie nodded as if understanding her and Sam nodded back.

As crimson thunder boomed above them, the shrieking of bats quieted down until it went compately silent, announcing that the monsters had probably left the area where the five were right now at.

"Oh... okay," Robin mumbled, slowly standing up to look at the sky. "That was close."

"Yeah." Eddie replied breathlessly. "Too close." He added, voice cracking a bit.

The group collectively stood up, looking around until Steve suddenly grunted and slumped onto the rock with closed eyes.

"Oh, sh-shit." Steve breathed out.

"Steve?" Nancy asked with worry, running to help Steve stand on his feet. "Jesus!"

"I'm fine, I'm fine." Steve tried to say but it came out pretty weak.

"No, no, no. You're not. You're losing blood." Nancy disagreed. Sam rushed towards Steve, leaving Eddie's side to help Nancy position Steve so that he was leaning better onto the rock. "Come on, sit. All right?" Nancy and Sam helped the wounded boy to slowly sit down as he grunted and hissed in pain.

The hand that was covering his bite marks slowly lifted up and Sam found herself gasping loudly. Nancy stared with wide eyes at the marks and Robin let out a small 'oh...' from the side. The bite marks were terrible. There were two circles on each side of Steve's stomach, one bigger the other smaller since the bats had two sets of teeth. They were pretty deep, Sam noted with worry.

"Jesus, Steve," mumbled Sam.

"I'm- I'm fine." Steve reassured.

"No you are very much not." Sam sharply replied, glaring at Steve. "You told me to be careful but look at you! How- fuck." She snapped and honestly, she didn't mean to okay? It wasn't Steve's fault for getting attacked but she was so worried for him and her nerves broke lose.
