EDDIE HELD the cassette player tightly in his hands, his knuckles going white from the force he was using but he could care less.

The group around him were screaming Sam's name and Eddie could see that some of them were losing hope. Not Robin and Steve though. No, those two were stubborn and they weren't giving up. Eddie could see Steve going insane quietly and he could see Robin break inside but the two were stronger than the others.

Eddie, on the other hand, couldn't function or think of anything anymore.

He knew Sam's favorite song only because it had been a song she used to play on her electric guitar quite a lot. He would always catch her play that specific song every damn time Sam had a guitar in her hands and it was rare that he would see her play a different song. Mostly when she was in music class and she had to choose a different song or the school band was supposed to perform a different song.

"Sam!" Nancy shouted for god knows what time but Eddie knew it had only been five minutes since it all began.

Eddie's heart was beating fast and at this point, he didn't know if it was beating in his ears or chest. His eyes were glued to Sam, the group's screams muffed in his head as he silently begged Sam to wake up. He kept thinking back of the time he found out Sam's sister had died in front of her, he kept thinking of the Mall fire and how her father, Jim Hopper, had died like a hero there. Sam had suffered a lot and he, admitting enough, didn't want her to suffer anymore.

"Sam!" Steve shouted.

"Sam!"

"Sam!"

Suddenly Sam gasped loudly and screamed.

Eddie's first instinct was to throw the cassette player on the ground with wide eyes and speard his arms to catch the falling girl.

They fell on the ground together. Sam in his lap sitting sideways and Eddie on the dirty ground. Eddie immediately wrapped his arms around her body and pulled her close, his heart drumming harshly onto his ribcage and his lips leaving a heavy sigh. The group around them gasped in shock and relief but Eddie didn't even have the time to be shocked as Sam started to hyperventilate in his hold. She was shaking, eyes wide and choked up sobs and gasps were leaving her lips.

"Sam! Sam, oh God!" Robin shouted, kneeling down next to Eddie to hold Sam's hand.

Robin started to mumble something like she usually does but Eddie muted her and focused on Sam. He didn't know if he was hallucinating or if Sam had actually made it out of her vision so he tightened his hold on her and let her wrap her own arms around Eddie's right arm. She was trembling and the desperate gasps she let out gave Eddie the idea that maybe she couldn't breathe before. Her head was pressed onto Eddie's chest and he could immediately feel his Hellfire club shirt getting soaked by her tears.

As he held her, his left hand came from behind Sam's body to brush the tears away from her cheeks, his thumb brushing over the plaster in the process.

Nope, not a hallucination. Noted Eddie with a sigh of relief.

"I- I'm-" Sam stuttered, her voice trembling. It broke Eddie seeing Sam so out of words, not being able to talk or even express whatever she wanted to say.

She looked utterly terrified, Eddie couldn't describe her state even if he tried.

Sam shook in his hold, her choked up sobs cutting scars in his heart. It was no secret to him that Sam meant a lot to him, he had accepted it long ago and never even bothered investigating any of it. The moment he saw her in that music room, the moment their eyes met, Eddie knew Sam wasn't going to ever leave his mind. But God, seeing her horrified and crumbling in his arms definitely made him wonder what has he gotten himself into.
