SAM'S LIPS formed into a smile as she stared out of the window, the memory echoing at the back of her head as she slowly realised that she had always wanted Eddie's presence next to her. The trees blurred together as Steve speed down the road. A new song came on the radio, 'send her my love' by Journey to be specific. Sam hummed to the melody just as Lucas stood up and walked towards the back of the van to sit next to Max.

What Max was doing was extremely brave. Getting herself in a trance, letting Vecna consume her mind just so that they could kill him. She was risking her life for this stupid town. They were all risking their life and Sam wouldn't lie, she was scared for everyone in the van. Half of them were children for fuck's sake. Erica wasn't even a teenager yet. They were too young for this but if they didn't do it, no one would and the world would go to hell. As much as Sam hated the world, as much as she hated people, she lived there too and she couldn't just let the world burn or turn into the Upside Down version or whatever shitty and horrifying plan Vecna had.

As she stared out of the window, the conversation the group had in Max's trailer brought a frown to her lips.

Whatever was keeping the line busy at her house in California must be connected to whatever was happening here, in Hawkins. She didn't know how was her family there, if they were even in California to begin with. Had the army found Eleven? Were the Byers hurt? Was Eleven hurt? What the fuck was going on there and was the strange presence Sam felt actually Eleven? But, if it was, then that would mean Eleven got her powers back and there was no way in hell they would just randomly return. Eleven must have went in contact with Dr. Owens or something. There was no other explanation.

God, Sam was going to go insane with worry.

"Mind if I sit here?"

Sam turned to look at the direction the voice came from only to find Eddie in front of the seat where Lucas once sat. She looked at Dustin who, just like Robin, had fallen asleep. The two at the front were still talking and Max and Lucas were having a comforting conversation at the back. Sam turned to face Eddie and nodded.

"Seat's all yours, Eds." Sam smiled.

Eddie returned her smile and sat next to her. Even if she was at the window seat, the sun was on the other side of the van so Eddie and Sam were sort of covered in a shadow.

"Eds?" Asked Eddie, getting comfortable in the seat and turning to look at Sam.

"You don't like it?" Asked Sam.

"I love it, actually." Eddie replied with a grin.

Sam nodded and leaned back on the window, still looking at Eddie. Erica was sleeping soundlessly on Sam's left side; her head resting on a small cabinet. Sam couldn't hear about what were Steve and Nancy talking about since the music was loud enough to muff their words but not loud enough to wake up the others.

"How are you feeling?" Sam asked, wanting to start a conversation and listen to Eddie's voice because it always had an effect on her. Effect that could calm her and make her feel better.

"Tired, I won't lie." Eddie admitted. "But also scared."

"Same here," replied Sam. "Never knew spring break could go like this."
