... Mirabel overheard a slap coming from Sophia's room and quickly realized that it was her boyfriend, Mateo. "Mi amor?" Mateo said, as Mirabel helped him up. Concerned, Mirabel asked, "What happened?" Mateo replied, "I thought this was a normal aunt/nephew bond." Mirabel firmly stated, "Never!" Mateo flinched at her tone of voice and apologized, saying, "Oh my gosh, mi amor, I'm sorry." Sophia scoffed and walked away. Mirabel questioned Mateo, saying, "What do you mean it isn't normal? Don't you have that bond with Pepa?" Mirabel replied, "No, never." Mateo realized, "So it's not normal." Mirabel suggested, "Mi amor, we need to tell your grandfather." Mateo protested, "No! Don't." Worried about Dolores overhearing, Mirabel warned, "Dolores can hear everything. You know she would tell everyone." Mateo sighed and agreed, "I'll tell him, but you have to come with me."
Mirabel affectionately uttered, "Forever, my love." Diego was accompanied by Alma when he addressed his grandfather, "Abuelo, I wish to discuss my bruises and their origins." Diego teasingly remarked, "Finally, Mirabel, why have you come here?" Mirabel responded, "To stand by him, Señor." Diego playfully added, "Alma, whether you like it or not, I'm taking your granddaughter!" with a mischievous tone.
Mirabel chuckled and gently grasped Mateo's hand. "Tía Sophia hit me," she confessed. Diego's anger flared up instantly. "What?!" Hugo's rage matched Diego's. "What the hell, Sophia!? What the hell did he do to you?" Sophia sighed and replied, "This incident reminded me of Olivia." Diego's voice trembled with disbelief. "Sophia, why? Why would you ever hurt your own nephew?" Josefina interjected, tears welling up in her eyes. "She didn't just do it to Mateo, she did it to Julia, me, and even my five-year-old half-sister!" Josefina's voice cracked with hurt. "Why? I thought I was your favorite." Sophia's voice softened as she explained, "You remind me so much of your mother, the one I cherish the most." Mirabel stood by Mateo, as she had promised. He leaned in and kissed her forehead lovingly. "I know, my love. I know."
Rianna asked her mother, "Mamá, why?" Austin questioned, "Mijo, why didn't you tell me?" Mateo looked down and said, "Mirabel, thank you for staying by my side and loving me unconditionally." Mateo kissed her lips and she giggled, saying, "You're a dork." Mateo smiled and replied, "You're my dork." Alma entered the room and said, "Diego, you lost your wife, and now your daughter." Diego sadly replied, "I know, Alma. I miss Liv so much, my baby girl, my pride and joy." Mirabel comforted Alma, saying, "Abuela, you lost your husband and almost your son." Alma admitted, "I held on too tight." Mirabel expressed her worries, saying, "Abuela, I don't know what to do if I lost my love." Mateo reassured her, saying, "You'll never lose me, mi amor." Mirabel kissed his lips and he chuckled, saying, "Mi vida, you helped me open up." Carmen spoke up, saying, "Mateo, you're like a son to me. It feels like the son I've always wanted." Mateo hugged Carmen and said, "Mamá, I feel like I disappointed Mamí." Diego reassured him, saying, "No, mi precioso nieto, you never will." Mirabel called out, "Mama! Is dinner ready?" Julieta responded, "Me and Julio are making arepas and empanadas!" Mirabel replied, "Make extra for Camilo and Mateo!" Julieta said, "On the way, Mariposa."
