Nightmare, Illusion, Star, Halluciv, Nightlight : So, it is about us ?

Kathleen : Kinda.

They all sit, ready to listen.

Kathleen : So, it is kinda more about the different types of Nightmares you can see in fanfic. I noticed 4 different types of Nightmare, which I think are linked to the effects that Nightmare eating the black apples.

Dream : What do you mean ?

Kathleen : So, type 1 would be what you can see as the canon black apple and canon Nightmare. Which means the following : Inside the Black Apple, there is what is called the Corruption. When Nightmare eats them, he dies and the Corruption will take over his corpse.

Jill : This means that if you have a Shattered Dream in this context, Dream also dies eating the apple and since both twins are the Corruption, it is technically one mind for two different bodies. Oh, and there is no hope anymore for a happy ending too. Just angst.

Ink : ...

Paint : Arguably, this would be bad for me, wouldn't it ?

Clear : Since you rely on Phoenix's aura for feelings ? Yes. It would mean that you would surely become their puppet. Just like Killer, I guess ?

Kath nods.

Kathleen : Type 2 is a bit different. Nightmare survived eating the Black Apple but is sharing his body with the Corruption. There could be many turn on this situation. In this case, you treat the Corruption and Nightmare as two different entities stuck in the same body. If you want, compare Nightmare and the Corruption to water and oil. They don't mix together, no matter what. Whether they get along or always fight for the control of the body is up to the writer. But, in this case, maybe the aim of the story will be to find a way to kill the Corruption without killing Nightmare or seals it.

Jill : It is the one of the favored versions of Nightmare and as a result, of Shattered Dream too. Though, there is no need to make the control of the body being shown through a change from Passive to Corrupted form. You can have it through a change of the eye color. With Nightmare, the eye is purple, with the Corruption, it is cyan/icy blue. This time, there is actual hope of the situation improving as a result. Because, just like Nightmare fought the Corruption to get his body back, Dream is most likely doing it, so instead of figthing him, the way to fix it is by helping Dream in the "battle of the mind" happening.

Dream : Is it really the most popular one ?

Ink : Yeah, it is even slightly more frequent with Shattered Dream than Nightmare, which is kinda dumb. It should work the same with both twins, after all.

Kathleen : Type 3 would be slightly different. This type, rather than oil and water who don't mix, it would be sirop and water. It means that somehow, Nightmare and the Corruption merged together, though it could be a processed who took a while. The main question in those stories is : How much of it is Nightmare ? How much is the Corruption ? If this is more Nightmare than the Corruption, then we can get a kind Nightmare, if the Corruption took over more, we kinda are likely to go back to the same thing than with type 1, the only hope is to kill them.

Jill : It is worth noting that Dream and Nightmare can have a different reaction in this case. Maybe one fused really strongly with the Corruption, while the other stayed dominant in their body. Who is which can change, depending on the level of angst you want, I guess. It can also be that they will have the same answer to the problem too.

Kathleen : And the last option is, there is no Corruption in the Black Apple. Which means, if Nightmare is still being evil, he most likely either went insane from the Negativity and pain he felt when the accident took place or he was evil before it (like in Emily Crystal channel for example, though it looks like her is closer of the type 3).

Jill : In that case, same applies to Dream, it would most likely just make him once agin able to feel negative emotion and put him in a lot of pain, but, somehow, I doubt of Dream going insane from just one apple, while Nightmare have ate enough for it to be convincing it could have happened.

Kathleen : Arguably, like I said, Canon Nightmare is the Type 1, Halluciv seems to be a Type 4, I have a feeling that Star could be a type 2 from one small moment when the Star Sans answered to a question. And, no, I don't think that Nightlitgh or Illusion are a type 3. But, in a way, you have a good type 3 in Emily Crystal channel.

Jill : Oh, and Kath is preparing a rant related to Nightmare.
