The days pass by so quickly now. Once again, Surebu finds herself in a routine.
She organised it with the teachers as well as Nezu so that she had math with 1-B, Japanese literature in General Studies, English with the business studies group and finishes off with the hero course with 1-A. There was a few reservations as to the last one, but Surebu herself refused to leave that class. Even after everything they'd said and done. She was willing to fight to stay with them.
With that said she can get along with the select few. Ojiro has proven he'd willingly spend time with her, and he enjoys sparring with her. She presents a challenge.
Kirishima and her meet up every few days in the secret rooms. She tends to leave snacks for them since she knows they rarely eat when in the rooms. That and Kirishima is often the one having to listen to Tetsues love sick rants about her. Hearing someone so in love talk about that person can really change the perspective of them, that was what Kiri had realised anyway.
Than there was Mina. She didn't make too many differences in the way they interacted, but she'd never move away from the other, wouldn't flinch like she'd used too. It made Surebu feel more.... At ease when in the classroom.
Midoriya was another. He was the first one to show her there was hope for her... Before she doubled back that is. After the game of capture the flag he'd often approach the girl to as question her about her quirk. He'd also gotten used to giving her a high five whenever seeing her. Now he just naturally holds up his hand when he sees her. She appreciates it. He trusts her, even with his big secret. That's more than what she could say for most people that know her quirk. Even Aizawa scans her to make sure she's wearing her gloves before making any physical contact, yet Midoriya does it so naturally...
It was only four of twenty students, but she was over the moon about even one of them showing her kindness. Amazing how the bare minimum made her that happy... It was kind of pathetic actually.
"SUE‽"
The girl snapped her head up and turned to look at Shinsou. He seemed worried. At this she gave him a bright smile. She must've gotten lost in thought and forgotten what was going on around her again. She looked around and noted all of the 1-B classmates she was with were all looking at her with furrowed brows.
"Did I miss something?" She asked almost scared to hear the response. The group looked from one to the other and back again. Monama cleared his throat and moved forward slightly in his desk.
"We were just talking about my birthday party the other week," he muttered with a small smile. Surebu grinned already going over Monama's memory of the day. He was so happy to know everyone went through all the effort.
When they'd originally found out his birthday was close they thought he would be going home. After him saying he'd rather stay at school everyone in 1-B gathered together and gave Monama a party he'd never forget. Surebu has seen many parties over the years, some fancy and some far from, but actually attending one was a different story.
She let go of a sigh looking over at the blond. "I really wish I could've attended. It would've been nice seeing you so happy," Monama smiled and looked as though he was about to say something, but Surebu was suddenly staring off into the distance again, face twisting into a sad smile and the faintest mumbles escaped her.
Monama frowned at this and straightened his back. He had copied her quirk. He knew more than enough just through that contact alone. He put his hand to his chin as he searched through every memory, yet nothing.
"Did you ever go to a party?" He found himself asking before he could stop himself. The table went quiet at those words and everyone turned to Surebu who looked up with wide eyes.
"I- uhm no..." She managed to get out looking like a deer in headlights. She took in a breath and quickly regained her composure. "Mother wasn't exactly capable of giving me one at that age and.... Well do you think a 'Surebu' would be allowed to attend a party of any kind that didn't involve death?" She stated this with a straight face, devoid of all emotions before looking to her food and picking at it with the chopsticks.
There was a silence over the table as they all processed this. It did make sense, but at the same time.....
What else was this girl missing out on because of that damn title? Why was she always trapped in thought like that? Was it really so bad she needed to alter the memories just so Monama could live normally again?
Even after that he still flinches at every loud noise. Just her memories alone can give someone PTSD. That fact was one they all feared. The life of a Surebu must've been horrific.
Still, the faintest smile touched Monama's lips. "Hey Sue, when's your birthday?"
Honestly wasn't sure I'd manage to get this chapter finished in time. I've been in and out of the hospital for a while and still going. This is going to be a new arch that I hope you'll enjoy.
