Now this one i sat on for months unable to write just because of its plot twist. Please accept this as an apology for the wait, there has been... a lot going on.
The cafe was bustling with noise as everyone chat amongst themselves. A good portion of those in the Cafe seemed to be more whispering and pointing to one specific table it seemed. Who could really blame them though? It was full of pro-heroes after all.
Girls day always did seem to gain attention, most of them had gotten used to it by now, being famous and all. Surebu however? She never tried to claim the career the rest of her friends had, so to on lookers it was just pro-hero Uravity, Froppy, Creati, Earphone Jack, Battle Fist, Vine and Shemage sitting in a Cafe with some random civilian girl.
The group was talking amongst themselves, having natural conversation about their new lives. Surebu, however, she seemed just a little too nervous for them to put it down to the stares of those around them. Uraraka, finally having enough, interrupted their conversation and put a hand on Surebu's shoulder, giving it a reassuring squeeze. Surebu looked up at her, attention shifted completely to her old friend.
"Sue, you okay? You seem... nervous?" The girl had pointed out gaining nods around the table. Seems the others had noticed it too. Surebu let out a small breath she hadn't known she was holding and nodded, thinking it was now, or never.
"Actually... i have something to tell you all," she looked from person to person, taking in their faces, ready for their reactions, annalising each one with a critically trained eye. She'd hoped it would be like Tetsue, and they'd be over joyed, but you could never be too careful with things like these.
The girls were all waiting expectantly, wondering what could have possibly had made Surebu so nervous she'd act this way towards them. For some it was a flashback to their school days and they hated it. Some were even wondering if they'd somehow offended her at some point throughout this conversation.
"I'm pregnant."
The room fell silent, not even the onlookers were willing to interrupt this moment. Surebu glanced around, seeing the shocked faces, and knew they were less than excited and got ready to defend herself. Despite the reaction, she smiled, happy at the news she shared.
It was Momo who broke the silence. "That's... great, but..." she glanced around at the other's, hoping someone else would say something.
"Don't you already have... four kids?" Kendou pointed out, finishing Momo's thought process.
The group nodded, voicing their agreement to the earlier statement. At this, Surebu frowned, the disdain clear on her face at the thought that this was their reaction. She looked between each of them, brows furrowed into a fine line.
She stood from her seat and bowed her head silently before making her way to the door. The girls all stood, calling out for their friend. They hadn't expected her to just walk out like that, yet Surebu continued on her path, exiting the Cafe and wandering down the street. She didn't have time to spare. As they had clearly pointed out, she had her babies to care for and a husband!
She only made it a little ways before the wall of vines grew in her path, stopping her. She stood there, not fighting it, not showing rage or sadness. Not the disappointment she felt either. Only a cold blank expression as Jirou grabbed her shoulder and spun her around to face them
"Sue! You gotta listen!"
The group paused upon seeing that cold dead stare. It was a traumatic flash back to all of them. There was a reason Surebu never climbed that ladder to become a Pro Hero despite so many agencies asking for her. Seeing that face, they remember just how terrifying whe truly is, just what she CAN do to them if she wished.
A shiver successfully ran down Jirou's spine, terror flashing in her eyes. For a moment, she was questioning her very being. Surebu managed a raised brow, blinking slowly as he waited for something, anything to happen. For someone to talk.
When silence was all she received, she sighed, mildly annoyed. Her face changed to one of anger as she looked over each one. Each girl showing the same fear in their eyes , none of them knowing how this would end.
"It was the middle of Winter when she was born. I was in Tokyo back then actually. I was a child and he paid good money for me. His daughter and I escaped. I didn't know until months later. Then she was born. There I was, in a cabin in the middle of the mountains, snow outside and a baby in my hands. I did what I had too for her and my sister. They walked free. I was caged once again."
She paused, watching the realisation flash in their eyes one by one. The truth is, besides that one day in that secret passage with Kiri and Tetesue... she never told anyone the truth about these kids. Not even Aizawa knew the truth.
"It was the night Spring turns to Summer. I was underground... I don't actually know what man it was. There was so many back then. One... it was 11:47pm... two... 12:34am... they were taken from me at 2:59am."
She waited, wondering if she should even keep going at this point. After all damage is done. Whats the point of continuing?
Looking into Jirou's eyes, Surebu had her answer.
"In a cage, that's where he was born. I was nothing more than an animal to use as he pleased. I knew that. Now with a child out of it... he needed to be rid of me and the boy. The next week I was sold to the League of Villains... and my son was gone..."
Momo stepped forward, her hand over her mouth, shocked by this news. It seemed like she planned to say something but couldn't bring herself to voice it.
The space remained silent before Tsuyu finally broke the silence with her signature 'Ribbit'. This was the exact thing that was needed to break the silence as the others all seemed to start moving and talking over each other suddenly. From one extreme to the other as per the usual with anyone from their year. Surebu couldn't help but feel a little sentimental, but there were more important things happening at the moment.
