"Sage! You're late for school!" Your mom hollered up the stairs as you were jumping on one leg trying to pull your jeans on.

"I know!" You screamed back at her.

"Why the hell is she still here?" You thought to yourself, annoyed, as you buttoned your pants, now scanning the room feverishly for your shirt that you had laid out earlier.

You had been tossing and turning all night. Your anxiety had been worse these past couple weeks and your mind was going in circles thinking about life and school work; revisiting topics of concern without making much progress. The rumination had robbed you of your ability to fall into a deep sleep.

Once dressed you grabbed your white converse and ran down the stairs with mascara in hand.

Your mom shook her head at you, eyeing the makeup on your face as you bolted to the fridge grabbing a banana.

"You really thought it was a smart idea to do your makeup this late?" You stood still by the fridge ignoring her and turning your head all which ways looking for where your bag could be. "

"It's already by the door", your mom murmured as she poured herself a cup of coffee.

Your eyes shifted over seeing your bag propped nicely against the wall.

"Thanks". You mumbled and snatched your keys off of the coat hanger.

"You don't have work today?" You asked her as you slung your bag over your shoulder watching as she took a seat on the stool in her robe.

She didn't react to you as she kept stirring her coffee.

"Mom", You vocalized louder. Her head jolted up and she turned to you, breaking her concentration.

"S-sorry. What was that?" She looked exhausted.

"You don't have work?" You asked again, ready to head out the front door.

"No. Lucky me I get to lounge all day". She sighed and gave you a smile.

Why the hell doesn't she have work on a Tuesday?

You didn't have time to question her any longer. It was 7:46 AM and your first period teacher told you that it is not looking too good for you right now with all of your tardies. You were in AP Econ with the Seniors, creating all the more reason for you to pass with flying colors.

"Okay bye I gotta go", You slurred in a hurry and ran out the door as she lifted her hand up in a wave.

You did your mascara in the rear-view mirror as carefully as possible while going over the allotted speed limit. Once hitting the parking lot you speed-walked through the doors and barged into class keeping your head down and b-lining right to your seat wishing you were invisible. 8:19AM.

Your teacher eyed you as they continued to lecture about something related to economics.

"Now Miss. Aurora".
