School would be so much easier if there were no late bells. If only you could walk freely from class to class, turning in paperwork whenever you wanted. Maybe in that alternate universe life would be easier and your grades and attendance would be better... or maybe you would have flunked out by now. Regardless, this was the real world- you had to grab your Econ book from your locker, and you were already late.
As you pulled your Jean jacket closer to your body the chill of the morning air rushed past you and down the bustling halls. The white metal lockers clanged and clinked with each slam and you joined the noise as you yanked yours open. Your tattered Econ book stared back at you, and normally it would be mocking you, laughing at the idea of you not being in class at this hour, but today you paid no mind to the small voice in the back of your head. In fact, today, that small voice was not there. You were in good spirits. The events of the other night replayed in your mind and you were giddy to see Billy today. You hoped you could catch a small glimpse of him, whether that was through the small glass slots on the classroom doors as you or him walked by, or by some miracle walking down the hallway and into your arms. Just the thought of seeing him even for a second made your heart beat faster and your cheeks flush. A slow smile began to spread onto your face as his image flashed through your mind.
"Now that's a face I recognize". A familiar voice broke your silence from behind. You didn't need to turn your head to see who it was. You knew your best friend's voice anywhere.
"I don't know what you're talking about", you smirked to yourself with your back turned away from her. You grabbed your final books and closed your locker to face her gleaming expression. She was loving every minute of this, and was not hiding any inch of her excitement.
"Stop, I need all of the details". She shrieked as you rolled your eyes, still smiling at her giddiness. She immediately linked arms with you. "And I need them now". You two giggled as you made your way towards class.
"Honestly, it was great", you sighed remembering the partially unbuttoned shirt he was wearing. Wandering minds stopped as you realized that image seemed to be the first place your mind went to when remembering that night. Knock it off, Sage. You tried to tell yourself that's not all he had to offer. But it was so hard to not think about the way his collar bone looked and the softness of his chest. Shaking your head to rid yourself of dirty thoughts, you were about to go into details on how you managed to carry on a conversation with him for over an hour, but you were interrupted by Chrissy's erratic voice.
"Oh my gosh! Shh! That's him! That's him!", She whisper-yelled as she squeezed your arm tighter. Your eyes darted to where the shrill of her voice was coming from and then followed her large gaze to the God-like figure walking in front of you. No unbuttoned red shirt this time. Realizing her freak out was beginning to draw in onlookers, you lightly slapped her arm as it clung to you. Luckily you noticed he was paying no mind to the erratic girl next to you. In fact, he could only focus on one thing. You.
