*fall of freshman year*
*will and mike are together*
*mike pov*

I sit at the dinner table and bounce my leg up and down, waiting for dinner to finally be over so that I can sneak out to see Will. I promised him that I would be waiting on my bike beside his window at exactly nine, and it's already eight thirty.

"Hey, uh, could I be excused? I just need to go get something I left in the garage and I'll be right back." I say, hesitating.

"You're such a liar." Nancy says.

"Shut up!" I say defensively, my parents look back and forth between the two of us to see who's lying.

"Michael, we know you're sneaking out to see Will again. We can hear you every time you leave the house at night." my mom says, causing Nancy to spit out her water in laughter.

"You guys are so annoying." I scoff, trying not to blush in embarrassment as I walk away. I quickly walk out the door and grab my bike before my mom can say anything else.

I pedal as fast as I can and find myself grinning at the thought of seeing Will in a matter of minutes. I ride my bike around to the side of his house where I stand on my tip toes and look through the window to see him carefully drawing at his desk. I tap on the window lightly and his head spins around quickly towards me, a huge smile appearing on his face when our eyes lock.

He runs over to the window and opens it just enough for him to slide out, and I close it behind him. I lean my bike against the house and wrap my arms around his waist, pulling him close to me and kissing him hungrily.

"I've missed you." I say quietly.

"It's only been like two days." he giggles.

"Two days too many. Ready?" I say. He nods eagerly and I hop on my bike, scooting all the way to the front of my seat so that Will can get on the back. I shiver as his arms wrap around my stomach, and I begin to pedal to our favorite spot. When we finally get to the beautiful open field, I lay my bike on the ground carefully and fall onto the grass, staring up at the clear sky.

"It's beautiful tonight." Will says.

"It really is." I say, rolling onto my side to face him.

"You look so pretty in the moonlight." he whispers. I can feel my face turn red as my hand finds it's way to Will's soft hair.

"How do you always know what to say?" I laugh.

"When I'm around you, it's like I have to tell you everything I'm thinking. You just have this way to you that makes me feel so comfortable." he says, his face inching towards mine. I slowly press my lips to his, but it becomes more passionate and I climb on him, putting my arms on either side of his head.

I kiss all over his face and move my lips to his neck, kissing it softly as he throws his head back and sighs.

"I love you, Mike." he whispers as I fall back into the grass, panting as he does the same.

After a few more seconds, I hear him shuffling around and he lays his head on my chest, entangling our legs together as I run my fingers through his hair.

"I feel like we haven't talked in a while. How've you been?" he asks quietly.

"We'll my anxiety had been getting a little bit better. You?" I ask.

"I started taking a new depression medication and it's been working. I think it had honestly been a mixture of the medicine and hanging out with you more that had helped me feel better during the past few weeks." Will says, my heart fluttering in my chest.

"I haven't been this happy in a long time, Will. Thank you." I whisper, kissing the top of his head.
