"Dustin, don't hang the streamer up there! A little bit to the left so it's centered." I say, Dustin groaning and shifting it over.

Today is Will's sweet sixteenth, and nobody from the party called him on purpose to make it look like we forgot, but Jonathan said he is gonna being Will over here and act like he needs something from the basement and then we're gonna surprise him.

Max carries numerous bowls of chips, pretzels, popcorn, and candy downstairs and sets it on the table, organizing it so that they look like nice while the others hang up decorations and get ready to surprise him. Just as I am fluffing the pillows on the couch, I here the front door open.

"Hide!" I whisper. Everyone crouches down behind the couch or the table, and about a minute later we hear Jonathan tell Will to grab his jacket, and that's when the basement door opens. A second later we hear the stairs creak, and that's when we all jump up from our hiding spots.

"Surprise!" we all yell in unison. Will's beautiful eyes immediately light up and become glossy and a huge smile spreads across his face.

"Happy birthday, Will!" I say, climbing over the couch and wrapping my arms tightly around his torso.

"Oh my god. I thought all of you forgot and I was so upset all day." Will says, his voice shaky with excitement.

"Byers, how could we ever forget your sweet sixteen?!" Lucas teases.

"Thank you guys so much." Will says, kissing my cheek lightly and causing me to blush.

"Of course, Will. Anything for you. Now how about we get some snacks?" I say, taking his hand and leading him to the table with all of his favorite foods. We all grab snacks and load them onto plates before sitting down on the couch and snuggling under warm blankets.

Lucas and Max share the small sofa seat and cuddle up next to each other, Dustin and El sit talking and laughing beside them, and Will and I sit on the couch, our legs just barely touching.

"So, do you wanna watch Poltergeist?" I ask.

"I always wanna watch Poltergeist." Will laughs. I push play, and a little while later, El and Dustin are asleep, of course. Max and Lucas are drifting in and out of sleep between giggling and kissing, and Will and I stay sitting at the edge of our seats like we haven't seen the movie a million times.

When I hear a loud crash upstairs, probably just a pot falling, I jump and hold back a scream of terror, grabbing Will's hand under the blanket. We both look at each other and blush in the light of the TV, my other hand slowly making its way up to Will's face.

"Mike, you have no idea how much it means that you did this for me. We are struggling with money and didn't have extra to throw a birthday party, so this is more than I could have even asked for." Will says, my heart stinging yet melting at his words.

"Of course, Will. And you know that if you ever need anything, and I mean anything, you can just bike over and ask me." I say, cupping his cheek with my hand.

"Thanks, Mike." he says shyly, leaning into my hand and kissing it softly before leaning in. He presses his soft lips to mine, and before I can even think, the kiss his hungry and Will is scooting onto my lap.

Our lips move quickly and in sync as my hands roam his waist, pulling in towards me. Just as I begin to kiss his neck, I look back over to Lucas and Max who are just barely asleep, and Will laughs quietly and climbs off of me.

"I forgot that there were other people here." he whispers.

"So did I." I say back. He lays his head in my lap and i cover him and i with the blanket, kissing his hair softly and drifting off to sleep.
