they aren't together yet
the rest of the party doesn't really exist

I've always grown up with not many friends, well besides Will. Will and I were friends from the ages of about five to fourteen, but that's when we had a huge fight. I said some really hurtful things, and thought that I ruined our friendship forever, but Will isn't like that.

Will isn't like the one to hold a grudge. Will is the type of person to forgive you even if you committed a crime. He's the type of person that you feel comfortable talking to about anything, and not feeling judged. He's just like that, so when I apologized to him and we talked it out, his forgiveness made me realize something.

I'm in love with him.

I guess I have been for a while, especially since we started high school, but I was kind of in denial of it, but now he keeps hinting that he likes me too.

I sit at the edge of my seat at lunch, eager for the bell dismissing us to fourth period to ring.

Every single day for the past few weeks, Will waits for me outside the cafeteria and walks me to my fourth period class. He walks me down the stairs and outside in the cold even though his class is right next to the cafeteria, and it's the best part of my day every single day.

When the bell rings, I sling my bag over my shoulder and say goodbye to some of the guys at my table, walking quickly. I see the top of his hair over the crowd of people and immediately smile to myself.

I walk quickly and round the corner, and there he is. He makes the face he always makes when he sees me, smiling and dropping his jaw and acting like he hasn't seen me in years.

"Hi!" I say, smiling widely.

"Hi!" he says, starting to walk.

"How are you?" he asks, just like he does every day.

"Pretty good, except for the fact that I have a chem test eighth period and I'm totally unprepared." I say.

"Mike, you're like the smartest person I've ever met, of course you're gonna do great." he says, making me blush. I try to hide it by staring at my feet as we walk down the stairs.

The first part of our conversations are always pretty routine, but then we just get in the flow and start talking about anything and everything, and by the time I'm sitting down in fourth period, my face hurts from smiling so much.

"Hey uh - do you maybe wanna hang out later like we used to? You can come over and we can watch a movie and order pizza or something?" I ask, my hands shaking partly from the cold and partly from being so anxious.

"Definitely. I'll come over at six?" he asks.

"Perfect." I say, waving bye and walking into my class.

The rest of the day feels like it moves so slow, but before I can even think, I'm cleaning the basement and laying pillows and blankets out on the couch and making a bowl of popcorn.

My heart skips a beat when the doorbell rings, and I hop off the couch and run to the door.

"Hey!" I say, letting him in.

"Hi! Thanks for having me over. I missed this." he says.

He ends up talking to my mom for a long time, which I expected, and then I follow him down into the basement.

"Wanna watch back to the future?" I ask.

"Absolutely." he says.

We sit down next to each other, our legs touching. As the movie goes on, our bodies move closer and closer, and I smile every time I remember that I'm sitting on the couch watching my favorite movie with the person I'm in love with.

I feel my hands begin to shake as I move my left hand closer to his. My hand rests now partly on my leg and party on his, and I can feel the heat from his body.

His hand moved over, his pinky just barely touching mine. I slowly move my pink and ring finger so that they're touching his.

"Mike I - " he stutters, looking at me.

"Will, I like you a lot. I'm sorry if this ruins things, but I've liked you for a long time." I say, my voice shaky and nervous.

"Mike I - of course I like you too." he says, staring down nervously at his lap. Our fingers slowly interlock, and he lays his head on my shoulder, my stomach filled with butterflies that want to erupt out of my chest.

My whole body feels warm and everything just feels perfect.
