takes place in the winter of freshman year

Will sits on his bed, listening to The Cure and working on a new painting. He has been doing this same thing for the past few hours, completely bored out of his mind. Just as he is washing off his paint brush, he hears a knock on the door.

He walks quickly to the front door and swings it open eagerly to find Mike standing right in front of him. He's all bundled up in a coat, hat, and gloves, and his cheeks and nose are bright red from the cold. The two have been dating for a few weeks, but they both become incredibly nervous when they see each other.

"Mike!" Will says enthusiastically.

"Hi! I came to see if you maybe want to go on a walk or something? I was so bored at home." Mike says, looking Will up and down and smiling when he realizes that he is wearing Christmas pajamas.

"Yeah sure! Come in and I'll change." Will says, opening the door wider to let Mike through. Mike sits patiently on Will's old leather couch as he waits. A few minutes later, Will comes out of his room in jeans, boots, a light sweatshirt, and a hat.

"Ready." he says, ushering Mike out the door. The two walk next to each other in comfortable silence for a few minutes, their hands brushing against the others occasionally until Mike takes Will's hand in his, interlocking their fingers.

"I've missed you the past few days." Will says, sheepishly.

"I've missed you, too. A lot. My mom gave Nancy and I this huge list of stuff to do while they are out of town." Mike says, rolling his eyes. Will nods his head, but he is clearly shivering. His teeth are chattering and his lips are purple against his red cheeks.

"Are you cold? Here." Mike says, pulling his big coat off and wrapping it around Will.

"Are you sure?" Will asks, hesitating to put his arms through the sleeves.

"Of course. I'm not that cold." Mike says, Will finally pulling the coat all the way on.

Their fingers stay interlocked as they walk to Mike's house, going inside.

"Hello? Anyone home?" Mike calls through the house, only silence in return. The two boys smile to themselves when they realize that nobody is home. Mike takes Will's hand and leads him up the stairs and into his room, shutting the door behind them, even though there is nobody else in the house.

They both take their hats and gloves and coats off and lay them on the floor, sitting across from each other on the bed.

"Your nose is still red." Will laughs, pointing at Mike's small nose.

"So is yours. Your cheeks are too." Mike says, pressing the back of his warm hand against Will's cold cheek. He flips his hand over so that he is now cupping Will's face, leaning slowly closer. He kisses Will's cheek softly and shivers at the feeling of his cold face touching his lips.

"You're so cute." Mike whispers, watching Wills face turn crimson.

"Blushing, huh?" Mike taunts, his face still only inches away from Will's lips.

"Oh, shut up." Will giggles, leaning in and kissing Mike softly.

Their lips move slowly and in sync, Will entangling his fingers in Mike's hair.

"I've missed this the past few days." Will whispers, leaning away.

"So have I. We need to do this more often." Mike whispers back. He places his lips back on Will's as their hands start to graze over each other bodies eagerly.

Will leans back and stretched out, his body now lying on Mike's bed while Mike climbs on him, using his elbows as support on either side of Will's head, kissing him passionately. Will's cheeks are flushed and pink as Mike runs his hand over Will's think body.

"I love you." Mike whispers into the kiss.

"I love you too." Will mutters back.
