My eyes flutter open to the sound of thunder crashing in the distance, and when they are open, I immediately sit up and push myself to the backboard of my bed.

The upside down.

Everything around me, including my bed underneath me is covered with those awful black vines and the air surrounding me is filled with those small, ash-like pieces of remains. It's cold and dark, the only light coming through my windows in red flashes.

"Help! Someone help me!" I yell, cautiously stumbling out of bed and into the living room. I bravely swing the door open to reveal a red and black sky, just like the dream I had a few years ago.

When lighting brightens the sky, the mind flayer reveals itself to me. It's bigger than ever and spans across the entire land in front of me.

"I'm not afraid of y - you!" I yell, trying not to show my fear.

"William. Finally you're home. I've taken something, or should I say someone. One of your friends." he says. I can feel a stabbing pain in my heart when he says that, and tears burning in my eyes.

"Who? Give them back!" I scream.

"Michael. I have Michael with me. He won't last much longer." he says. My body immediately fills with rage and sadness as I imagine Mike in all the pain that this had caused him. I've caused this.

"Let him go! Please let him go! Take me instead!" I scream, another clap of thunder filling the air.

"I'm afraid that it's too late. He's gone, William." he says, laughing weakly.

I can feel tears violently streaming down my face as I collapse onto my front porch and cry.

I sit straight up in bed, tears running down my face and sweat trickling down my back and forehead. I wipe away some of the tears and push the blankets off of me.

It was just a dream.

As many times as I try to tell myself that, I keep thinking back to Mike. I stumble to my dresser, still sobbing, and grab my walkie-talkie.

"M - Mike! I'm sorry to wake you up. I - I need you here." I sob into the talkie, but there is no response. Only silence.

"Please." I cry. Just then, I hear some static on the other line, immediately filling me with hope.

"Will? Will what's wrong? Are you okay? Are you hurt?" he questions, his voice sleepy. Just the sound of his voice is enough to tell me that he's okay. That it all really was just a dream.

"I - I need you to come over and spend the night please." I sob. I hear him say okay, and a few minutes later, there is a knock on my window. I let him in, and immediately collapse into his arms.

"Will, what happened?" he asks, moving us to the bed where I lay my head on his chest.

"I had a d - dream where the - the mind flayer got you. It killed you." I cry quietly.

"Oh, buddy, it was just a dream. I'm right here." he whispers, kissing the top of my head. He runs his fingers slowly through my hair.

"It - it was so scary. The mine flayer said that you were gone. Dead." I say, only crying softly now.

"Awww, Will. I'm right here. I'll never leave you." he whispers.

"I just - I can't lose you, Mike. You are the most important person to me in the entire world and I don't know what I would do without you. You make everything okay, even when it's not." I say, sitting up and watching how his face turns a light shade of pink.

"Will, you're never gonna lose me. I'm always gonna be here for you." he says, laying down. I cuddle up next to him and he kisses me softly on my cheek and then on my lips.

"Wake me up if you have anymore dreams." Mike says, kissing my forehead.

"Thanks, Mike." I say, falling asleep almost immediately.
