El and I glance out the window eagerly, the mail truck only houses away. We both write letters to Mike, and his letters to us always come three weeks apart on Saturday, and after a dreadful three weeks, it's finally time.

Mike is finally coming to visit in two weeks, and I couldn't be more excited. Yeah, I mean of course he's still with El, but I can't give up on him now. I love him more than anyone.

When the mail man walks up our driveway, I swing the door open.

"Thanks!" I say, grabbing the stack of mail from his hands. He grunts a quiet "you're welcome" before I run inside, flipping through the pile of paper. I hand El her letter from him and she runs to her room, and I do the same when I finally find mine.

I lay on my bed, ripping open the letter as quick as I can.

Dear Will,

I'm so excited to come and visit in two weeks. I feel like I have a lot to say about your last letter. I know how hard it's been for you struggling with school and anxiety, cuz I've been going through the exact same thing. I just know when I come to visit everything is gonna feel better for both of us, at least for a little while. I can't wait to see your new room and hang out with you.

Love,
Mike

I smile widely to myself as I reread his words a thousand times. He can't wait to see me.

As I reread it once more, I hear sniffling coming from El's room. I slowly get out of bed and walk to her doorway, looking into her room to see her sitting at her desk, her shoulders shaking and her face in her hands.

"El?" I ask quietly, causing her to wipe her eyes and quickly pick her head up.

"Are you...okay?" I ask, walking over to her and kneeling down so that where at the same height.

"N-No. I don't think Mike likes me anymore." she cries, my heart stopping for a moment.

"W-Why do you think that?" I ask curiously. She continues to cry and she hands me the letter he sent her.

Dear El,
I can't wait to see you in two weeks! It's gonna be so cool to see where you live! It'll be so fun to hang out with you guys!

From,
Mike

It sounds a lot like my letter, just without the "I miss you" and "Love, Mike". Why did he write those things in her letter?! I mean she is his girlfriend? Do I mean more to him than her?

"El I - I don't think this means anything! Of course he still likes you! You mean a lot to him!" I say, lying. I do think it must mean something, I'm just not sure what it is.

I reassure her for a while later, but when I get back to my room, I can't help but read my letter again until I doze off to sleep, only thinking of Mike.

~~~~2 WEEKS LATER~~~~
I wake up and immediately feel a nervous, but excited pit in my stomach. Today is the day I've been waiting for for two years.
Mike is visiting.
Me, El, my mom, and Jonathan sit on the edge of our seats in the living room waiting to hear a car pull up, and when we finally do, I feel like I'm gonna puke.
Mike, Mrs. Wheeler, and Nancy pull up in a standard black rental car. We watch the doors open ad we run down the driveway to them.
"The Byers!" Mrs. Wheeler squeals, hugging my mom. Nancy runs and jumps into Jonathan's arms, kissing him hard.
I look to Mike who is shifting his eyes in between me and El, but I can see exactly what's he's saying. He knows he has to hug El first.
El runs over to him and wraps her arms around his neck, kissing him quickly before hugging him tight. I feel a bit odd as I watch, trying to distract myself.
When they finally release, I walk over to him slowly, our eyes locking just before our arms wrap around each other. His chest is rising and falling quickly against mine as I think about the letter over and over.
Love, Mike
The evening goes by fast as we all talk and laugh in the living room, retelling stories that we've already told on the phone in the past two years, but they're so much better in person. When the night finally starts to wind down and everyone is tired, all I care about is the sleeping arrangement, and just then, my mom reads my mind.
"So, I was thinking that Mrs.Wheeler and Nancy can stay in the extra bedroom and Mike can stay in Will's room. Sound good?" she asks, me and Mike locking eyes for the hundredth time.
We all agree before Mike lugs his heavy suitcase up to my room, dropping it and staring at the walls in awe.
"You're room is so cool!" he exclaims, looking at all the posters.
"Thanks." I laugh, pulling out the extra mattress from under my bed. I change into my sweatpants and sweatshirt in the bathroom and come back to see Mike pulling a big shirt over his head, his chest bare.
"Sorry." I say, feeling my cheeks heat up.
"Don't be." he says, butterflies swarming in my stomach.
"I missed you so much." I say, closing my door and wrapping my arms around him.
"I missed you too, Will. More than anything." he says softly into my ear.
When we finally let go a little, our arms are still around each other, and our heads are only inches apart.
"I read your letter to El." I say, his face going blank for a moment.
"Oh." he says quietly as I look right into his beautiful eyes.
"It's different then mine." I say, forcing out a small laugh to ease the tension.
"Yeah...it is." he says awkwardly, his grip tightening slightly on my waist.
"Why?" I ask, leaning even closer to him.
Finally he smirks slightly, quickly closing the space between us and pressing his lips against mine. Our lips move hungrily as my fingers tangle in his curly hair, my whole body melting against his. When ours lips disconnect, his hand is still holding my chin.
"I wrote love, mike for a reason." he says.
