Chapter 13: Closure, The Date & Dean

"Kyle, meet me at the park in 10 minutes. We need to talk -Ellie" I pressed the 'send' button and placed my phone in my pocket.

I took one look at the mirror and smiled to myself. I was wearing an off-the-shoulder white tee that had flower patterns on it with high waisted short shorts and I tucked the shirt into the shorts. I paired the outfit with gorgeous peach colored high wedges and a black handbag.

I brushed my wavy hair and let it fall down gently on my shoulders. With one last look, I hurried downstairs where mom and dad were having a heated discussion in the kitchen. What is dad doing here?

"Goodmorning" I announced myself and they stopped talking immediately and turned their heads towards me.

Dad smiled gently "Goodmorning, Ellie"

I walked towards him and gave him a small hug "What brings you here?" I asked him as I pulled away slowly staring at my parents curiously.

"Your mother and I were discussing some stuff about the divorce" He glared at mom who was also glaring at him.

Tension built up in the room and that was my cue to leave!

"Alright, you guys resolve your issues and I'm heading out" I stepped away from them "Bye!" I smiled and opened the door stepping outside.

The weather today was gorgeous. It was a mix of spring and summer. It had a beautiful cold breeze that crossed me every once in a while. Today really feels like a good day.

I pulled the phone out of my pocket and I had one unread message. I opened it and it was from Kyle 'On my way'

Awesome.

I made my way to Kyle's and I old bench in the park and sat down. I started feeling nervous all of a sudden about meeting him. Yesterday's chat was one of the worst conversations I've had with Kyle.

2 minutes later, I spotted him walking towards me with his hands in his pockets. He looked gorgeous. He was wearing a button down grey shirt and a pair of dark denim jeans. His eyes met mine and he sent me a small heartwarming smile.

I took a deep breath and stood up as he stood in front of me "Hey"

"Hey" I said "Let's sit"

Kyle nodded and we both sat back down at the same time.

Awkward Silence was starting to take over but I broke it immediately "How are you?" I asked and He nodded "I'm good, you?"

"I'm fine" I sighed.

"Look, I don't want to go around in circle so I'm just getting to the point" I quickly said it and Kyle nodded in agreement "Go ahead"

"I want you to explain, everything"

Kyle furrowed his eyebrows "What do you mean?"

"When you cheated, who'd you cheat on me with, when and why" I answered and he sighed hunching his back forward. He brought his hands to his lap and started fiddling with his fingers as he started the story...

"It was two days before I broke up with you. I told you I was going to the party Mike was hosting and you said you couldn't go because you had some important family dinner" He said and I remember that day clearly. He begged me to go with him but I couldn't because dad was inviting his colleagues to our house for dinner and they needed me with them.

"I went and I got really drunk and the whole night was a daze. I woke up with a horrible headache and Melissa sleeping next to me and we were both... undressed. I immediately regretted everything and regret was followed by guilt. I was scared. I didn't know what to do. I didn't want to tell you but I knew you'd find out eventually. I asked Mike for advice and he told me to break it off with you before you dump me and I said yes. That was a stupid mistake. I put my pride over you. Ellie, you've been hunting me everyday of my life. I didn't get to enjoy Spain at all, for you were always on my mind. I'm really sorry, Ellie. I truly am."
