"Where were you?" She asked placing her hands on her hips. I rolled my eyes walking towards the kitchen. "You missed lunch!" She growled and I sighed heavily.

Why does she do this?

"I'm sorry mom... I had a little incident." I turned around, my back facing her and I pointed at the wound on my head.

"I don't care!" She yelled "When it's lunch, I want you here on time!"

I wasn't really surprised by her outburst. My parents don't care about me. At all. All that they ever wanted was perfect. And I am far from that. I just ignored her and walked to the kitchen to find dad sitting on the dining table with a look of annoyance plastered on his face "Where were you?" he asked.

"You guys are unbelievable" I groaned and run upstairs to my room, locking the door behind me. Ugh! I was only late for 30 minutes!

A familiar ringtone filled my ears. It took me a while to register that the ringtone's blasting from my phone. When did I put that ringtone?

I took the phone out from my pocket and looked at the caller ID 'Your beautiful brother, Jeremy'. I rolled my eyes and pressed the green button "GUESS WHOS COMING HOME GUESS, GUESS, GUESS!" He yelled enthusiastically. "George Clooney?" I said sarcastically smiling to myself. He fell silent for a moment "Close" then laughed "I'm coming home... I'm coming home... tell the world I'm coming home" he started singing and I laughed.

Jeremy was the only person in this family who loved me. He helped me through a lot and I thank him for that.

Jeremy is your typical handsome, 24 year old funny guy who's loved by everyone. And by everyone, I do mean everyone. My parents love Jeremy more than me. My aunts, uncles and cousins loved Jeremy way more than me. Whenever we have a gathering or something, they'd look at me as if I'm the black sheep of the family and Jeremy, the prince. On my birthday, they wouldn't show up and come up with lame excuses. On Jeremy's, the whole neighborhood would show up.

I got used to being treated like bullshit.

I was on the verge of breaking down. I thought Kyle was there to help me but he left. He fucking left.

"Hey, you alright?" he asked turning serious all of a sudden. I gulped the lump in my throat "I'm fine"

"Sure..." he mumbled. We both fell silent for a while but I decided to break it "So, when are you coming?"

"Oh!" His voice lightened up immediately "Wednesday, 5 pm!"

"That's great, Jeremy!" I grinned. "Alright little sis, I'll talk to you later, send mom and dad my hellos and kisses"

"Sure thing"

"Love you, bye!" and with that he hung up.

Jeremy serves at the US army. He is currently deployed in Afghanistan and I haven't seen him in 2 years. We usually Skype but it's very different then actually being with him. I really miss Jeremy and him coming home was just amazing. I needed to tell my parents that he's coming, they'll be thrilled and they'll forget about everything that happened today.

I walked downstairs towards the living room. Dad was on his laptop doing some work and mom was reading a magazine.

"Mom, dad" I said loudly and they both turned to face me with confusion and anger "Jeremy is coming home in two days" their faces lit up and my mother clapped her hands excitedly "My baby boy is coming!!" Dad's smile didn't leave his face and mom was murmuring to herself and smiling excitedly. I wish they were that excited for me.

"Surprise party. We're going to throw him a surprise party. I need to invite people. We'll get a buffet!" Mom said grinning widely "This is going to be just perfect!"
