Grian leaned against the rock as he stared at the rift. Rain fell from the entrance of the rift, falling onto him with the anger of a thousand Watchers. Memories filled his mind and the rift growled at the blonde's grief. He couldn't help but be grieving.

Permadeath shouldn't have happened.

Especially not to Scar.

The clumsy Elven Wizard who scammed his way into his heart.

Tears fell and mixed with the blood that splattered on his cheeks and neck when he held Scar.

If he had been any faster; If he'd had more control of his power; If he hadn't dragged Scar towards the server alone; If he hadn't teased Scar when the loop started;

He could've saved Scar.

He should've saved Scar.

Scar was pure fluff with a dash of Chaos and power. Grian being pure and unadulterated rage and chaos.

Scar was far too good for the Watcher. Too good too the Watcher. Too good that Grian didn't accept Scar's confession when he first did so, only after Scar held him after the disastrous end of 3rd Life.

Scar understood and still loved Grian, and both took it slowly and kept it private for a few months for Grian to grow used to the fact they were. Scar also had to constantly reassure Grian that it wasn't fake and he wasn't playing with G's feelings.

Grian was unnecessarily anxious, and he'd made Scar deal with it.

Looking up to look at the rift, he sighed. His magic must have made the Rift a magic portal again. He couldn't see the fade and outline of the gravestone he'd built for Scar.

...

"Hey, Grian. Do you know what happened to Scar?" Xisuma asked, glancing at the over performing blonde. Grian was cold and distant from the Hermits since the beginning of the season, and no one knew why, but X had xyr guesses.

Grian's eyes widened as he held the moss block tightly, but he looked down to the ground. "I don't... I don't know what happened to Scar, sorry."

X raised an eyebrow to Grian. Grian and Scar had been the first two on this world, the code whispered to him. Scar had disappeared and Grian was cold and kept pushing everyone away from him. People couldn't help but worry about him - X included - as the last time Grian secluded himself, his mental state had dropped far into the black and Doc had found the blonde trying to kill himself.

"Grian, what happened to Scar?" Cub asked, stepping in front of Grian. The Avian fluffed up his wings but kept them from fully extending.

"I don't know." Grian said, looking up at Cub. "If I did, I would tell you. Scar was my friend too, and my boyfriend."
