Y/N's POV
I've been enjoying my holiday in Jamaica and it's been extremely relaxing out here, I feel like I can finally forget about all of the troubles at home like my recent break-up with my ex-girlfriend or the terrible thought of constantly at risk of losing my job because of my gender identity...
I was born a female but I decided to medically transition into a male but to not identify as a man, does that make sense? Well, I bloody well hope that somebody out there understands it...
I got top surgery 7 months ago so my surgery scars have almost healed and I can finally go swimming again which I've missed so much because I love being by the ocean ever since I was a kid!
So since today is forecasted to be the average high temperatures for the country, I've decided to go out and enjoy the sunshine down at the nearest beach with my best friend whom decided to come with me named Finn.
The sound of the ocean lapping against the sand could put anybody to sleep if they tried hard enough if I'm being particularly honest as it's so peaceful...
"Mate, are you seeing what I'm seeing at the moment?" Finn grabs my attention, pointing out to the ocean where I spot a young girl flailing her arms as if she's in danger so my instincts kick in and I sprint over to the shore, constantly checking if she does actually need help...
I pull my shirt over my head and quickly dive into the ocean, swimming over to her as quickly as I can.
I quickly drag her almost lifeless body out of the ocean, people helping me to drag her out of the ocean at the shore before I check if she's breathing or if she has any sort of a pulse where there is neither...
I begin chest compressions as soon as possible, not letting this young girl's life be taken away from her when she is this damn young. When all of a sudden, she begins to cough up the saltwater is when I roll her onto her side, allowing all of the water to come out.
The crowd that has formed around me begins to cheer as her eyes suddenly spring wide open and I look around for either of her parents.
"Does anyone know who this little girl's parents are?" I ask and a woman steps forward, concern spread across her face. "Ma'am, your daughter should be fine, it didn't seem like she inhaled too much water as her airway opened up not too long after starting CPR."
"Thank you so much, you don't understand how grateful I am for people like you!" She breaks out into a wide grin as I help her daughter back to her feet.
"Not a problem, ma'am, I don't wanna see a child, especially at her age, be taken away." I smile back at her, finally regaining my breathing as she picks up her daughter and cuddles her.
"Thank the man for saving your life, Lizzie..." The lady tells her daughter who smiles at me.
"Thank you!" The young girl thanks me, smiling widely at me.
"It's no problem, love... When I spotted you out in the waters and you looked deeply troubled, I knew that I needed to do something!" I break out into a grin, proud of myself for being the good samaritan.
"Alright baby, go and see Nana." The lady tells her daughter, putting her on the ground before we watch her run off.
"I forgot to introduce myself, I'm Leigh-Anne..." She reaches out for my hand which I happily shake.
"I'm Y/N, it's nice to meet you." I greet her back as we share a laugh together at her pure awkwardness.
"I was wondering if you were doing anything later, I thought that maybe we could get to know one another?"
"I think that would be amazing, where should I meet you?"
"You know that bar just down the road, how about there at around 7?"
"Of course, I'll meet you there."
Never did I think that me saving Leigh-Anne's daughter from drowning would be the start of a romantic relationship...
Several years and many dates later
Today is the day that I married Leigh-Anne at the same beach that we met all those years ago, we've been dating since that date after I saved her daughter and we still laugh at the strange predicament that we met one another...
Elizabeth is the maid of honour and she's supposed to be making a special speech at the wedding reception.
"The way that my daughter and Y/N met was definitely a strange situation, Y/N being the amazing lifeguard that my granddaughter needed at that specific moment and they saved her life without a second thought. As I think back about it now, falling in love after your daughter nearly drowned to death would definitely be a great book title!" Leigh-Anne's mother reads her hilarious speech, making all of us laugh out loud "You know what Lizzie might write a book about that in the future and dedicate it to one of the weirdest love stories that I've ever heard!"
We are barely able to keep a straight face throughout the rest of the speech as my new wife's family continues to tell funny stories about her childhood.
