♥︎Chapter Twelve:
Not-so-Warm Welcome Back

Angelina wasn't sure if it had been minutes that passed, or days.

She wasn't sure if her eyes were in working order. She wasn't sure if her ears were hearing what they were hearing. She wasn't sure of much in the mere moments that had changed everything so quickly.

What she was sure of was that Detective Patch, Eudora, whatever you referred to her as, stood in the center of the hotel room they stood in, her gun still raised while a bullet wound stood prominent in her chest,  appearing so quickly, one might have thought it had always been there, but Angelina knew that was not the case as the dark colors seeped into her shirt, the stains growing by the second as the woman fell to the floor in one single breath

Her eyes were wide and her own body was motionless, flat against the awful wallpaper that lined the walls. Her eyes were quick to find the source of the shot which was none other than Cha-Cha, her gun still raised in her hand as she stood in the open doorway. The sight caused chills to run down the girl's spine.

She had never seen the woman to be particularly threatening. Well, life threatening, but in that moment, the cold, empty stare she held as she looked upon the scene she created was enough to cause her to shiver.

She prepared herself to be the next victim of the gun she held since the two seemed to be in too much of a pickle to care about her survival, or that they'd grab, bound and gag her, shove her back into their dusty, crappy car and drive off to dispose of her somewhere else, or maybe, just maybe they'd let her live. Maybe she was still useful, that they'd tie her up again and find another shitty motel to tie her up in.

She'd have rather the other two options.

While her mind flooded with several hundred other thoughts a minute, Cha-Cha lowered her gun causing the girl's heavy breathing to slightly slow. Across the room, Hazel stood from the floor once he grabbed his gun back from the floor.

Angelina braced herself as he stalked towards her, her eyes screwed shut in anticipation, but as she counted the beats, listening to his steps, she heard his stop but she felt no matching bullet flying through her own chest. Was that how it felt to be shot? You didn't feel anything? Didn't hear anything?  She cracked an eye open, immediately landing on the still man who stood over the body of Eudora patch.

What was going on? It was like they didn't even notice her presence, like she didn't even exist. Maybe she did die and she was looking on at them as a ghost, but she shook the thought away. It was stupid, she would remember if she died, wouldn't she?

"Hazel," Cha-Cha called, breaking his eye-contact with the dead woman. When theirs's met, the woman beckoned him over, gun in hand causing the blonde to flinch back. If they hadn't noticed her, then she didn't fancy getting accidentally shot by a gun getting haphazardly thrown around.
