♥︎Chapter Eighteen:
Gold Medal Gymnast

Angelina didn't follow Klaus, nor did she follow Diego. Today, she went on her own. Today, she confronted her nightmares, whether she liked it or not.

That had not initially been her plan, of course. She should've known that nothing would ever go to plan.

No, she had actually been on her way to collect her clothes from her previous place of refuge. She wasn't kidding about that. Her clothes were some of her most prized possessions- other than her necklace- considering she didn't own much.

So even though she had told Luther that she was going to go off and save the world on her own, she was not going to do that, but in a funny little way, it did end up working out in the end, but she wasn't aware of that just yet.

She just needed a breather from Hero Complex Hargreaves. She should probably have been more specific since she knew that that could apply to about half of them, but it was Luther.

Ugh. Luther.

The only Hargreaves man who had yet to let her down with their incredibly sized ego was Klaus. He really was a black sheep to the rest of his siblings, but who knew, maybe Ben had been similar to him. Maybe that was why he always spoke to him. Maybe he just missed him.

Angelina had not been through a lot of loss in her life, not that she could remember anyway, but she thought that if something so tragic in her whole lifetime had happened, she'd still feel it. She couldn't be sure. She didn't feel all that much.

Not even the news of the apocalypse could cause a tear to shed from her. Sure she felt sad sometimes, but she didn't feel so overwhelmingly sorrowful, ever. Usually, she just felt angry, and that was even worse. It was just a solitary reminder that she was slowly becoming more of a monster by the day.

It bothered her that the thought of killing someone didn't bother her. She didn't feel guilty, and that only made her feel more guilty.

She had never really killed anyone. Anyone that had been killed in her presence was caused by the fault of Five, and in the end, he had been the one to finish them off. She hoped. It would give her a little bit more reassurance to be in denial that way, even if she wasn't sure.

She just felt like she messed up or something. One of her problems was the ability to get into fights. She didn't know why. Maybe it was her slight short temper, maybe she was crazy. Maybe both. Another problem was that she enjoyed them. She was good at it. She didn't want to hurt anyone, but she always found ways to justify it, even when she didn't want to. It was like the devil on her shoulder was guiding her through life, urging her to do things even when she had to resist.
