It felt like an eternity, but I received a phone call from Evelyn in regards to Shawn's new apartment within a week. She had arranged everything, and convinced Shawn to move out of my place without any difficulty or help from anyone. I knew the mention of involving cops was the way to go. Elaina was impressed at how quickly Shawn's mother was able to get him out of this apartment, but I wasn't. Well...not after learning of her approach. A fully furnished studio apartment along with six months of rent paid in advance did the trick. She also purchased a used car for him. A navy blue Toyota truck, equipped with new rims. Umm yeah, he was definitely going to leave without any hesitations. A part of me felt somewhat bad upon learning that Evelyn had drained a portion of her savings just to make this happen. But, as I recall the many times she stood up and did nothing as her son would physically abuse me, I couldn't help thinking that it was just karma coming back to bite her right in the ass! That thought alone was all it took for me not to feel bad about her sacrifice.

As I bring the last basket of my belongings back into my bedroom, I couldn't help but to feel so proud of myself. I have so much to be excited about these days. My next move towards furthering my education, getting my own place and having the freedom to do whatever I want. I'm thrilled and feeling quite hopeful. I love that I have time now to plan out my future, but nothing excites me more than the possibility of going to culinary school. Becoming a chef had always been a dream of mine, and I can't wait to explore those options. I've also looked into school grants for single young mothers looking into furthering their education. There's not a lot of options there, but the few I've come across seem promising. I'm looking forward to all of the possibilities and reinventing myself.

Cheyenne... you in there? I hear Elaina ask just outside of my bedroom door. When I open my door, I find Elaina standing with a bag in her hand, and a sneaky little smirk on her face. What's up E? Oh nothing. I just bought you a little something for the party this Saturday and I wanted to give it to you. What is it? I asked excitedly, grabbing the bag out of her hand and emptying the contents onto my bed. Like I said—just a little something. She says with a wink. OH MY!.... She wasn't lying when she said "a little something". I think to myself as my mouth drops. In my hands, I hold the smallest pair of summer shorts I have ever seen. The jeans shorts have rips on the back pocket and they look.... well....they look slutty!

What the fuck Elaina!—I can't wear this! I exclaim as I shove the shorts into the bag and hand them right back to her. C'mon Chy... just try them on. NO! I yell as I go back to reorganizing my room. There is no way in hell I'm wearing these tiny shorts. I'm not built for this type of clothing Elaina! What are you talking about? You can totally pull these off. I ignore her. C'mon Cheyenne. She whines. Stop acting like you don't weigh one hundred and thirty eight pounds and your waist isn't perfect! You're insane Elaina, I don't have the body to pull off those shorts! Oh... ok! Miss I don't have a single stretch mark despite blowing up like a balloon while you were pregnant with Sofie. She's right about that. I was very lucky in the stretch marks department. Well.... as far as my belly goes, but my thighs, that's a different story. Still, I don't believe that I have the figure for an outfit like this. Trust me when I say, you're going to look great in these shorts, Cheyenne! Elaina says and snaps me out of my thoughts. I sit on the bed and ask. Let's say I kept the shorts, when will I ever get the courage to go out in them? You know I won't dare, E. I tell you what Chayenne... why don't you just hang on to these. If you still feel the same way after you've tried them on, the I'll return them. Just promise me that you'll give them a try—PLEASE! Taking a deep breath, I nod and place the outfit inside of my dresser drawer. Promising to try them on as soon as I finish organizing my room.
