Are you in there? Cheyenne— open the door! Elaina shouts as she bangs on my door. I'm taken aback by her tone, and I instantly worry that something has happened, but I can't let her in just yet. Not with all this evidence of last night's event. One second please. I shouted back. I scramble around and pick up the blankets and pillows, and then I hide the unopened condom, and condom wrappers that were left on the nightstand.
Lucas left two hours ago, around five am, but I had stayed on the floor holding on to the pillow he was laying on. The thin cotton was infused with the scent of his cologne, and I couldn't stop inhaling the incredible smell. Was I tired? Hell yea! But I just wanted to lay awake here, on the floor enjoying my post-coital Bliss. I couldn't stop thinking of every magical kiss, and all the amazing sensations that I had experienced just hours before. I had forgotten how great this could feel and I'm already thinking of the next time.
Cheyenne!..... Open the door! I hear Elaine yells once more. I rush to the door and quickly open it, extending my arms out and faking a yawn. She hurried in, looking somewhat mad and I'm instantly confused and worried. You had Lucas in here didn't you? She asks, and I freeze on the spot. I.... I . I try to come up with an excuse, but I have no words. Literally.... I can't even speak.
Please don't lie to me, Cheyenne. Because Tony was in the bathroom this morning when he heard voices and decided to peak out. He saw you! You and Lucas standing by the front door as you both shared a kiss and said goodbye. Why Cheyenne? And when did this all start?
My chest hurts. I don't like to lie or keep things from my best friend, and I can tell she's hurt by my omission. I'm sorry I didn't tell you, E. I just couldn't risk anyone knowing, and it all happened so fast. Also, let's remember that you weren't too happy about me pursuing Lucas in the first place. I remind her. I wasn't—and I still think it's a bad idea. But if you were going to do it anyway, I would have liked to have known. You can't go off sneaking around and have no one know of your whereabouts. Not with a crazy ex who can easily find out, and hurt you because of it. If you're going to see Lucas, then I'd like to help make sure no one finds out. Especially Shawn! She shouts. She's right. I could at the very least tell her where I'll be when I leave to see Lucas. And it would be nice to have someone who can cover for me while I'm gone or talk to about this.
Chayenne, you have to be careful. Please tell me that you are being as careful as you can possibly be. I am—I promise. I say as I give her a hug. I'm so sorry I lied to you. I said as I looked away. I really do feel so bad about keeping this from her. No need for apologies Chy, I just worry about you. You're more than a friend to me—you're like my little sister. And I just want to protect you. You know this.
I can't help the tears that fall down my cheek as I listen to Elaina speak. They aren't sad tears, I'm just emotional because I feel so blessed to have her in my life. I was the oldest out of my siblings- well I know I'm a twin but I was born first and so I'd say that makes me the oldest, right? A whole three minutes and twenty six seconds older than Isabella, and so I've always taken on the role and responsibilities. My sister never minded, and she sure as hell used it to her advantage. With whatever problems would arise, she would say. Well, you're the oldest so you fix it! Anyway, my point is that I was the one who alway worried and took care of my siblings, so it feels good to have someone older be there for me. Especially someone who I view as an older sister.
Come, let's sit. Elaina says as she walks towards my bed. I want to know EVERYTHING! She demands. Well...we kinda been sneaking around for a little over a month. A MONTH? WHAT THE HELL CHEYENNE! How the hell did I miss that? Boy, you weren't lying when you said you were both being very careful, because I don't think anyone has suspected a thing. Especially me! I'm shocked Chy. How did you both ever pull it off? She asks with wide eyes.
Well Elaina, It hasn't been easy. I confess. And we both have come close to being caught several times. Are you serious Cheyenne? Yes. I answered. The first time we hooked up, Shawn's girlfriend saw us together as we walked down the alley. WHAT? Elaina yells in surprise. Oh Cheyenne, that could've caused so many problems. I know, but honestly, I don't regret any of it. I said with a big smile. Lucas is amazing!
Your smile. Elaina says as she reaches for my hand. I haven't seen you smile this way in so long. It's great to see, Cheyenne. I hug my friend, and as we sit there, I flooded with a sense of relief. Anyway..... enough of that. How is he? Is he a good kisser? Are you guys really into each other? Tell me everything! I laugh at her excitement and begin telling her about the day at the laundromat, and the time we walked down the alley and ran into Lexi. I didn't know her name at the time, but Lucas knew her from the neighborhood, and mentioned it to me one afternoon. So, are you both an item now? I'm just wondering because Lucas has never been linked to a girl for longer then a weekend, and I'm extremely shocked to hear that the both of you have been seeing each other for over a month. We're just having fun, E. Nothing serious. I assured her.
