Chapter 13
*first week on xfactor*
*Sunday*
Megan’s P.O.V:
Today was Sunday, the day we were going on our shopping spree today. Everyone already had their own little cliques and they all went shopping together. I was the youngest person in the competition and everyone else was at least two years older than me. After breakfast, everyone had already gone out shopping, except for me. I went out in London, by myself, I didn’t have a clue where I was going. I asked at reception before I left where was a good shopping centre in London. She told me that Westfields was a good place to shop. I called for a taxi, and went shopping, by myself. This experience wasn’t what I was expecting it to be, I was hoping to have made friends, but it’s not as easy as you think. I had spent most of my money in New Look and Topshop. I went to Boots to get some make-up and to Office for some shoes. I was extremely happy with all the things I had bought. I called for a taxi and went back to the hotel. As I was heading down for dinner I could hear someone shouting behind me “Megan, Megan, wait up” I recognised the voice, but I couldn’t quite place it. I turned around and saw George walking towards me, with three boys behind him. He introduced me to his band mates, Josh, JJ and Jaymi. They were all very good looking. Stop it, Megan; focus on the competition, not on cute boys.
Are you heading down to dinner?” George asked. I nodded. “Would you like to join us?” he grinned. “Are you sure?” I stumbled. Ugh I hated being so shy. “Yeah, we couldn’t let you eat alone” Josh grinned. I walked down to the bar with the boys.
We were causally chatting round the table. The boys were telling me about their x factor journey. Then they started to ask me bits and pieces. “I’m Megan, I’m 16, I'm from Ireland. I love horses and horse riding, I also like singing and I have played a little guitar. My friends entered me into the xfactor and I only found out a few hours before my audition, and there’s nothing else exciting about me really” The boys were all kind and were good listeners, there was hope for making friends yet! “Wait, you ride horses? How long have you been riding for?” JJ asked. “10 years” I replied. JJ looked shocked, “I used to be a jockey” he stated. “Really? Finally someone I have something in common with” I giggled. I felt relaxed chatting to these boys. “Did you boys enjoy shopping today?” I asked. “Yeah it was good fun, hanging out with the lads. Did you enjoy yourself, who did you go out with?” Jaymi asked. Oh no. They are going to think I am so anti-social, that I went on my own. I took a deep breath. “This is going to sound so pathetic” I began. I looked down at the table “You can trust us” Jaymi added. It felt good to know someone is willing to listen. “I went shopping on my own, cause I don’t know anybody that’s not in the girls category, Lucy and Jade left earlier with some of the older ones, so I just asked someone where I could shop as I’ve never been to London and I got a taxi, to a centre, Westfields or something like that” I blabbed out. “OMG, we never realised anyone was on their own, you could have came with us” Jaymi exclaimed. “You guys wouldn’t wanna go shopping with me, you need time to bond together as a band” I said. “Don’t be stupid, Megan, it’s your first time in London, we don’t want you getting a bad first impression of this amazing city. Come up to our room and hang out, you’re always welcome to hang out with us, right boys” Jaymi added. The others nodded in agreement.
We went up to the boys room and watched the last auditions show of the x factor. We were about half way through it, all of a sudden I saw me on the TV. Wow, I looked ugly. “Sorry, guys, but I can’t watch this,” I exclaimed. The boys wouldn’t let me leave till I watched the audition. The whole way through I pointed out everything that was wrong, I looking ugly, I sang stupid, why did I move my hand like that? Anything you could possibly criticize, I did. Finally the audition was over and JJ paused the T.V. I looked at the boys; they were all sitting with mouths wide open. “Stop catching flies, I know I did badly, no need to rub it in...” I trailed off. All of a sudden I felt four pillows bash against me “What was that for?” I exclaimed. “You are amazing, stop putting yourself down” George said. I stood up to leave, “Guys I got to go before I get hit by any more pillows and hear more bull coming from your mouths” I went and grabbed my phone and headed for the door. “Bye Megan, see you tomorrow” the boys chorused. I went to my room and opened up my laptop, I guess there was hope of me making some friends in this competition.
