*Saturday*

Megan’s P.O.V:

It felt weird waking up in my own bedroom, not seeing that floral wallpaper through the mirror of the hotel room. It took me a minute to figure out what day it was. Today was Saturday. Today was the day I was getting back in the saddle. I was so nervous because I haven’t ridden since the lesson with Tim. I dragged myself out of bed and took a quick shower. I chucked on an old pair of tracksuit bottoms and a hoodie. I dried my hair and threw it up into a messy bun. I raced downstairs and got some breakfast. This is what I loved about horse-riding. We could wear comfortable clothes down to the stables, like our trackies, and we didn’t have to wear make-up, we didn’t have to make any effort at all. Mum drove me to the stables, I was so lucky to have my mum. Yes, she got overprotective and worried, but she let me do what I want. She never really watches me ride, maybe once or twice a year, not often, but she is happy to let me spend my days down here with my second family. I sometimes felt guilty that she was by herself at home so much because I was at the stables and I was over in London, but she was the one encouraging me to do it. I love my mum so much.

Mary had already got the horses fed and we had to start tacking up, the lessons started at 10 on a Saturday. It was still strange having the kids that I was used to seeing once a week come up to me acting all shy and asking for pictures when before they were chatty and bubbly.

While the lessons were on, all the helpers mucked about whilst getting the yard tidied. We were singing and dancing whilst mucking out. I loved having these crazy times with these guys, I would remember this day forever, these guys kept me grounded.

At five to twelve, Bella grabbed my hand and we headed to the kitchen to find out who we would be riding, I felt really nervous, but it was a good type of nervous, an excited nervous. I was riding Sunny, he was a beautiful 15.2hh chestnut, and he was at the stables for as long as I could remember. He was an amazing horse, but he was very bouncy, I crossed my fingers in hope that we wouldn’t be doing sitting trot today. After all the horses had warmed up, Carole strode into the middle of the arena. “Since, we don’t get to see you too often anymore, Megan, because your too busy becoming a singing sensation, you’re going to choose what we do today!” Carole beamed. I looked over towards Vicky and Bella and nodded. “Jumping” I announced. Carole nodded and called in some of the helpers to set up the jumps. Jumping wasn’t necessary my favourite thing to do, but I really enjoyed it, Sunny was an amazing jumper as well.

We all had loads of fun cheering each other on, having a fairly relaxed lesson, Carole still made sure we kept secure positions and rode properly. Once we had warmed up over the jumps and the heights were getting bigger and bigger, Carole started taking pictures, Jade came in and took pictures on my phone for me as well, so I could see them when I got back to London. When we had looked after the horses, me, Jade, Bella and Vicky walked to the petrol shop down the road to get some lunch. We had some playful banter whilst walking down the road. When we arrived in the petrol station, heads turned. We were used to the dirty looks because we usually arrived in the shop covered in hay or shavings. I was having my sandwich made when I got a tap on my shoulder, I turned around and saw this shy 12 year old girl, she reminded me of Vicky when she was that age. “Are you Megan Kelly?” she mumbled. “Yes, why?” I answered with a smile. “Can I have a picture or autograph or something?” she whispered. “Yeah sure, don’t be so shy, I don’t bite, but I can’t promise that Jade won’t” I giggled as I pointed to Jade, Jade shot me daggers. I posed for a picture and signed an autograph. “Any chance you could follow me on twitter?” she asked with a smile, she was beginning to relax now. “Sure, what’s your twitter name?” I smiled. She gave me her twitter name and she headed off. I did this two or three more times, I’m surprised people actually wanted my autograph, I mean, I’m just Megan, who spends her summers up the road. I was lucky that my friends were patient with me and on the bonus side, I got my lunch for free!
