Chapter 39
*The day after the final*
Megan’s P.O.V:
It felt good to be able to sleep in this morning. I was up at about 10:30 this morning and I felt really relaxed. After breakfast I was bursting with energy. I went up to my room and went on twitter and followed some fans and scrolled through my mentions. They were some really horrible messages, but I was getting used to them now, I still shed a few tears over each one. I had to get over it and learn to be strong, I got my five minutes of fame now, they hype would soon die down; I doubt I will ever get signed. Then I suddenly remembered that I was going back to London and not home, and then I remembered why. I’m going to meet Simon Cowell, I don’t have a clue why? Oh no, maybe he found out me and George had a ‘thing’ and he is going to punish us, because it was completely against the rules to date any of the contestants or crew.
I was not looking forward to this interview with Simon; my mind was racing with all the possibilities that could happen. I retraced my steps since I arrived on the show, remembering everything bad, dating George, being a diva when JJ tried it on with me, and starting a fight with Carolynn. Well, I didn’t really start the fight but, ugh, I don’t even know. Why do girls have to over think everything?
It was 12:00 and I had to leave the hotel in 20 minutes to go to the train station. I was walking round my room, making sure I hadn’t forgotten anything, this was my routine everything I left anywhere I stayed. I was playing around on my phone where it started violently vibrating. I quickly answered it “Yellow” I said. “Megan, when are you leaving for the train?” I recognised Jaymi’s familiar voice which was now low and husky; he must have only woken up. “Twenty minutes” I replied. “Me and the boys are coming on the train with you, so don’t leave without us” he grumbled. “Well, you know I hate being late, I’m leaving here at twenty past and if you guys aren’t ready then, I’m leaving” I grinned. I knew it was going to be a big rush for the guys to get ready, they’re so vain, they take longer to get ready than I do! “Ugh, you’re so mean, see you in the lobby in 20 minutes” Jaymi groaned as he hung up.
I was waiting on the boys down in the lobby, if they didn’t come down in the next minute, I was leaving. I got up and grabbed my suitcase and walked towards the door. Just as I entered the revolving door, I could hear people shouting at me, I turned around and saw the boys sprinting out of the lift and towards the door. The boys looked absolutely wrecked! They all had bags under their eyes. They joined me at the other side of the revolving door. “You guys look like you’re ready to run a marathon, so full of energy” I commented. “Shut up! Jaymi only woke us up half an hour ago!” George groaned. I laughed as we all entered the taxi and drove the two minute drive to the train station. We got our tickets and sat on the platform and waited for the train to arrive.
“Good night last night?” I asked. “What I can remember of it?” groaned Josh as he rubbed his head. “Everyone was completely pissed then, I take it?” I asked. “Nope” George smiled. “Who wasn’t then?” I asked. I assumed Jahmene must have gone out to the final party but didn’t drink. “Me and Jahmene, I only had a few beers, these three were downing the shots like there was no tomorrow!” George giggled. I nodded. This train journey was going to be so fun, and I knew it, taking the Mickey out of three hung-over lads is always funny!
We have been on the train for half an hour now, I had been on my phone on twitter doing the usual tweeting and following and scrolling through my mentions. I still saw the hate; I was determined not to cry. Josh, JJ and Jaymi were all sleeping off their hangovers, I had given them some of my painkillers that I have for my rib. It was still really sore, but I would just have to get over it. Across the aisle, Jaymi and JJ were stretched out on two chairs with a table between them. Josh was lying over the two chairs in front of me and George was sitting beside me. He was on his phone as well. I was scrolling through my mentions and I had stopped on a particularly bad one, I had received worse. I was tempted to just bawl my eyes out, but I couldn’t do that. There was no one on the train and it’s not like George hasn’t seen me cry before but I had to be strong. The hype would die down soon and the hate would stop. I looked up to the ceiling and did my best to blink the tears away. “What’s wrong?” George asked, worried. “Nothing” I faked a smile. George raised his right eyebrow. “Megs, I’ve spent the last four months with you, I know you better than you think, now you’re gonna tell me why you look like you’re ready to burst into tears!” George argued. I sighed. “Nothing I can’t handle” I smiled. “Show me your phone” George demanded. The tweet was clearly visible on my phone. I couldn’t let him see that, I couldn’t even say something as mean as that. I shook my head and clutched my phone. “Fine then, I’ll just have to tickle it out of you!” George smiled. As he dug his hands into my sides, I let out a yelp as the pain shot up my side. “Sugar, I’m so sorry Megs!” George gasped. “It’s cool” I smiled. “I’m really, really sorry” he apologised. “George give over! I’m fine, it wasn’t your fault, and I even forgot I had a broken rib!” I smiled. George looked guilty. I was clutching my side with both hands to ease the pain. George grinned and quickly grabbed my phone, leapt off his seat and ran down the train. “GEORGE!” I screamed and ran after him. Why did I always choose the window seat? He wouldn’t have gotten away otherwise. George had run straight for the toilet and locked himself inside. Wonderful! I walked back to my seat and slumped down. “What the hell happened?” Josh asked. He was now wide awake. “Huh?” I was in my own world. “Why were you screaming at George?” He groaned. I woke him up after I shouted at George, whoops. “He stole my phone” I sighed. Josh started laughing. I gave him the death glare. “It’s not funny; he shouldn’t be reading what was on my phone!” I protested. “Something to hide, ehh?” Josh grinned. “Nobody should have to read what was on my phone” I mumbled. “Hey, why do you look so cheery, you’re supposed to be seriously hung-over!” I quickly changed the subject. “Once I’ve had some painkillers and a quick snooze, I’m good, as long as I go to bed relatively early tonight” Josh smiled. I nodded.
