"Puppy"
Harry's pov
Nobody could deny that I was at my lowest.
I had more nightmares than usual, and more intense.
I would cry myself to sleep, it was my fault, Cedric died because I suggested that we should've grabbed the globet at the same time.
Why couldn't I just be a little bit more selfish?
The whole summer was hell, and I had no one.
Nobody would answer any of my letters.
Hedwing was really tired, at some point I let her rest and stopped trying getting news from my friends.
I would find myself listening to the news, sometimes, Sirius would appear there for the alleged massacre of muggles, after all, he was still considered guilty. Even though it made my blood boil hear the way they would put him, it was the only way I could know about something from the wizarding world, so I didn't mind. I hid under the kitchen window to hear the news without uncle Vernon knowing, I was on the porch, listening to a muggle cereal commercial, when a loud detonation, similar to a shotgun, broke the peaceful silence.
I felt like my head had parted in two, I forced my eyes closed and staggered while I managed to get my wand out my pocket, and before I could even regain my balance, two big hands locked together around my neck.
"Hide that!" Vernon yelled at me "give it to me!"
"Let go of me!" I managed to say haltingly due to the pressure he applied against my neck.
He finally let go and I breathless fell on the hydrangea bush, I quickly looked around but there was no sign of what could've caused the sound. I quickly hid my wand inside my jeans, I looked to my right and saw Vernon shaking his hand with the neighbor.
"Lovely night isn't it? Did you hear how the car backfired? Petunia and I were frightened!"
I just sighed and stood up and sat on the couch.
"What were you up to do?" Vernon yelled at me.
"With what?"
"With the sound"
"It wasn't me"
"Sure wasn't, what are you doing?"
"Listening to the news" I simply answered.
"Again?" Aunt petunia'd joined him.
"Well, they change every day you see"
"And what were you doing under the window?"
"Great question petunia" Vernon yelled triumphant "what were you doing?"
"I was listening to the news"
"Don't mess with us" he lowered his voice "we all know that the- the" he lowered his voice even more so Harry could barely hear him "owls deliver you the news"
"They don't"
"Stop it, we know they do we aren't stupid!" He said.
"Those are some news for me" Ranging, I stood from the couch before Vernon could explode and went to the park.
I sat on a swing while I watched a family playing in the park, two brothers (I supposed) played on a wheel spinning around as they pretended to be riding a spaceship that was laughing and their mother calling them for dinner.
