Chapter 6

Jacob and Arno made their way over to the soccer fields nervous about what the team would be like.

"I'm going to be honest with you Jacob. I only joined the team for scholarship money. I don't wanna be here" Arno sighed. He wasn't the biggest fan of sports. He didn't really like running around all the time but he did it to be involved. His dad was also a single parent and money was tight if he wanted to go to Davenport soccer was going to be his job for the next four years.

"Well, I'm here because I quote from Evie "you need something to get your energy out" he imitated Evie perfectly and Arno laughed at this. Being an only child was lonely and boring so seeing Evie and Jacob's interactions and their quarrel was hilarious to him. Jacob was also on the soccer team for scholarship money. Evie was always way more academically talented than him and she got a full ride while he struggled to do the standardized testing just to get into the university. Jacob wanted to be at the same university as Evie and the soccer team offered him money so he signed up right away. They got to the fields and saw their teammates talking and waiting for Coach Bayek to arrive. Eivor waved them over as he was finished talking to Sigurd.

"Hey guys, are you ready?" Eivor asked.

"I guess" Arno sounded defeated.

"I am!" Jacob was excited he was going to do his best to enjoy this. Bayek soon walked up.

"Hello everyone I am Coach Bayek and to the returners welcome back! Now let's go around and introduce ourselves and say what year you are. Let's start with our team captain" Bayek pointed over to Demios. Oh god, Arno thought to himself he forgot this brute was the captain.

"Sup I'm Deimos, I'm from Greece and I'm a Junior" He was, even more, intimidating out here on the field. Everyone soon introduced themselves and now it was time for warm-up exercises.

"Okay, we are going to get in groups of fours. Group one is: Bellec, Arno, Aguliar and Sigurd. Group two is Jacob, Eivor, Oswald, and Freddie. Group three is Abbas, Cal, Demios, and Yusuf. Then finally group four: Stentor, Nikoli, Clay, and Cesare." Bayek announced. Everyone split up and Jacob and Eivor were happy to be together. Poor Arno was so nervous since he was by himself.

"Sup piss pot I'm going to start calling you that now got it piss pot" Bellec came up to patting him hard on the back.

"Great" Arno sighed. The groups got into circles and started practicing. Eivor and Jacob were in their group and everyone reintroduced themselves.

"Hey I'm Oswald and I'm a junior" Oswald had long blonde hair and spoke with an English accent.

"Hi, I'm Freddie and Jacob. I'm pretty sure we have the same major. I saw you in the Criminology department." Freddie remembered a panic-looking Jacob running around. "If you want, can I give you a tour?"

"Oh my god, please! I was so lost and confused I ended up enduring a lecture from Haytham Kenway" Jacob shuttered remembering the uptight and rude man.

"Eww he's the worst, " laughed Oswald.

"God I'm glad I've never had him," Freddie said remembering the horror stories.

"Wait, why is he so bad?" Eivor innocently asked kicking the ball to the others.

"Well apparently, he's a grade A dick and hard ass plus he's arrogant" Oswald answered kicking the ball over to Jacob.

"Yeah, well after sitting through just ONE lecture I see that. Thank God I'm not a finance major" Jacob then kicked the ball to Freddie.

"Yeah well, his son goes here. His name is Conner Kenway, he's an RA at Homestead" Freddie said.

"Wait they look nothing alike," Jacob said, shocked that the quiet man was related to the arrogant jerk. Eivor hit his head and felt what Evie felt for the last 18 years.
