Chapter 30

Love was in the air at Davenport. All the couples were planning their perfect dates for Valentine's Day. Conner was beyond nervous about going hiking with Dobby. He had not tried the whole relationship thing since Aveline. He tried on different outfits even though it was just hiking. He finally decided on a warmer outfit since was still cold out. He then walked to the second floor and ran into Ezio outside his room.

"Hey" Ezio greeted him. "You picking up Dobby?" he then wiggled his eyebrows.

Conner smiled and rolled his eyes "Yes what are you up to?"

"I don't know I think I'm going to hang out with Rosa tonight" Ezio shrugged. He and Rosa had a friend-with-benefits relationship and he was feeling particularly lonely on Valentine's Day.

"Alright well, good luck" Conner then walked to Dobby's room. He took a deep breath and knocked.

A few moments later Dobby answered. "Hey are you ready?" she also bundled up and was dressed just as casually and Conner was thankful.

"Yup let's go!" Conner held out his arm and she took it.

The drive to the hiking grounds was short and flew by as Dobby and Conner talked. He learned she was from New York like him and her parents worked at a shipping yard. "So anyways that's how I got my nickname" she laughed as they got out of the car.

"That's awesome I have my Mohawk name but that's it," Conner told her as they started walking to the trail. Conner loved how the snow looked everywhere. It was like they were in a winter wonderland.

"Oh, and what's your Mohawk name," she asked intrigued.

"It's Ratonhnhaké:ton" Conner said proudly. He loved his name and was proud of it.

"That's so cool" she loved hearing about his personal life. They then kept walking and talking. It felt perfect to Conner but he didn't feel the attraction he felt when he first saw Aveline he just chalked it up to nerves. They then stopped in front of a frozen waterfall.

"We should get a picture" Conner offered pulling out his phone.

"I would love that" she then got right next to Conner and they took a selfie. Conner liked the closeness of her. They then continued hike and talked more.

"So I have to tell you something" Conner stopped and looked at her with a serious look.

"What are you a vampire" she laughed thinking of a certain vampire romance series.

"Worse I'm a Kenway" Conner wanted her to know about his dad.

"Wait like Haytham Kenway?" She asked beyond shocked. She was more surprised at this than being a vampire. She never had Dr. Kenway but her roommate did and would come back in tears after class.

"Yup but I'm not like him!" Conner rushed in. "But yeah, he and my mom who is amazing by the way, somehow got together." Conner still could not wrap his head around that.

"Wow you guys are nothing alike you're so sweet and nice" Dobby was still in shock.

Conner then blushed at her comments "thanks that means a lot. My dad is sorta shitty but my mom gave me all the good genes and grandpa is also pretty awesome"

"I mean not to sound rude but yeah I heard he's one of the worse professors"

"It's fine but there's also something else you should know" Conner and Dobby then walked over to a rock and sat down. Conner told her how he was working on romantic relationships with himself. He also told her of his failed date with Aveline but did omit Aveline's name. Dobby nodded the whole time understating him.
