Everything is Due ; Nothing is submitted

Chapter 22

January was now here and the students were trickling back into Davenport after the long Holiday. Everyone's flights went well and they were all now back in Davenport. Classes started the next day. The girls were all in their room hanging out.

"I'm hungry" complained Maria sitting on the couch and looking at her phone.

"Well, we just bought a bunch of groceries make something" Evie made everyone go grocery shopping even if they were beyond jetlagged.

Maria then groaned "but that involves effort."

"Let's go to the café then" Elise suggested.

"That would be nice and we can see everyone again" Aveline added in. She was beyond glad to be back she missed her friends terribly. Everyone agreed and put on their jackets. They met the guys in the lobby and headed to the café. As they were all walking there in the freezing cold Elise and Arno were holding hands. Eivor and Aveline took note of that. They all finally got food and settled at a table. Arno and Elise of course sat next to each other with Jacob and Aveline by their side. Evie, Maria, and Eivor sat across from them.

"So how was everyone's break?" Evie asked she dug into some pasta that made her realize café food was something she did not miss.

Elise then blushed a bit but spoke up "it was great but Arno and I have something to tell everyone"

"Oh, you're pregnant!" Maria quipped. Jacob then started snicking and Evie rolled her eyes. Arno's face was beet red.

"No!" Elise made a face at Maria. "Arno and I are officially dating." The last few weeks had been a dream for her. She and Arno explored all of Paris together. She spent the night at his house apartment since his dad was gone most of the break. Elise had no idea how she was going to be able to spend personal time with Arno if their roommates were always there. She knew she would have to figure it out soon.

"Well, I'm happy for you" Eivor smiled. He was a bit jealous but knew those feelings were useless.

"Thank you" Arno looked at Eivor appreciative of the approval. The last thing he wanted was to hurt Eivor.

"I knew it!" Aveline exclaimed. "You guys are so lovey-dovey"

Everyone laughed. Glad that Arno and Elise were together. As they were all talking and having a great time. Altair and his crew walked in.

"Oh, look Maria it's Altair" Elise pointed out as he was getting food.

"Okay and" Maria shrugged "he's taking me out soon". She was excited but wanted to play it cool.

"Wait and you're telling us now," Evie said sounding a bit hurt.

"Sorry I just kinda forgot" Maria admitted. She had been busy with her family and Paris over the break. Altair was not on her mind too much.

"Well I hope it works out," Elise said as she finished the last of her sandwich sad it was not food from the cafes of Paris.

"I can't believe we have class tomorrow" sighed Jacob. He had loved his Christmas break.

"At least we're halfway done" Arno assured him. Everyone then left and headed back to Homestead. They were all happy to be back even if Café food was disgusting.

Classes started today and Aveline was excited to be back. She and Gerald had Theatre together today with Professor Aristophanes. She walked in and saw he had saved her seat.

"Hey Gerald" she smiled as she set her stuff down and took a seat.

"Aveline, how are you?"
