Hey guys! We just hit the 50th chapter!! Whoop whoop!!

Shay showed me around later that night. For some reason, she required that I wear a suit, even though it was still night time. Apparently, some of the important guest she had mentioned before were coming over for a gathering, and she couldn't have people looking at me, a god, as if I was poor.

But if I thought about it, even though I had become a god, I was still broke as ever.

"Now Michael." She began. She used my full first name in such a serious manner, that my attention went to her almost immediately.

"What's up?" I asked worriedly as we walked down one of the many golden majestic halls she owned. She stopped walking to look at me and made a hopeless sigh.

"How do I put this in a way that doesn't offend you? Ah whatever. I'll just say this. You're ghetto as hell."

My eyes widened and the corners of my mouth turned in a smirk. "I'm ghetto?" I repeated incredulously. She sighed and shook her head in an unsure manner.

"Not ghetto ghetto, but you're pretty close. Can you do me a favor and at least pretend like you know what you're doing when you meet these people? Even though you're a god and we all basically accept you as a lord, half of these beings have lead their species for centuries. They're still expecting the newly born god they've never seen before to act... well, in human society's terms, 'high class', or civilized if you will."

I nodded my head, trying to understand as much as I could. "You want me to avoid making a fool of myself." I concluded. She made a wry smile at me.

"Exactly."

Shay began to walk ahead of me again and I hesitantly followed her. "What do you have in mind?" I asked unsure of where this conversation would lead. She slowed to a stop and turned left. Jotting to keep up with the barefooted beauty, I followed her in what seemed to be an even more gorgeous hallway. Detail was in every painting that was hung on her walls. The marble floor was clean and cool. It was as if the deeper in the mansion we dove into, the easier it was to marvel at the house and it's owner overall. I was falling behind as I began to take longer and longer to admire the paintings, and Shay took my head in order to speed me up.

"If this is all it takes to stop you in your tracks, I wonder what would happen if you were to see her in a dress." I was confused by her words, and in a split second we took another turn and into a hallway of simpler wooden doors. The sight was hideous compared to the beautiful scene before, and I couldn't help but cringe as I was reminded of the apartment I lived in by myself when I was younger.

Walking up to one of the doors, Shay tried to doorknob only to discover it wouldn't budge. She gave it a little shove, and it eventually gave in. What was inside the room was enough to make any man stop in his tracks.

"Who...who are they?" I asked confused. "Why... why are there naked girls in cages here?" Shay remained silent as she walked passed me into the room. The air around her was incredibly different from the poverty stricken air around the ten filthy girls who watched us from the corners of their metal cages. Shay hesitated before she began to explain.

"Every time a new god is born, for centuries, vampires and sirens have offered slaves to the newly born god. It is tradition that Sirens take ten orphaned girls from fairly leveled species to be companions of the gods. The Vampires offer a boy of their own kind, or of similar strength."

"This is sick." I said covering my mouth. Shay crossed her arms and glanced at the girls.

"Sick? This is a chance. These girls had no future before this. By being forced into this, even if there's a slight possibility, their life can change forever. Being in the service of a god is the highest achievement anyone could ever achieve. The respect. The power. Even if they themselves don't know it yet, they're lucky. Somewhat."

I glared at Shay as she spoke, and began to realize that she actually believed in the words that she was saying. I was disgusted and disappointed. But then I realized that this wasn't her fault. I came to an understanding. This so called tradition had been going on for centuries. She's just a child influenced by her culture.

Besides, if a golden-god worshiping tradition has been in effect for centuries, what are the chances that it was the gods themselves that inspired it's creation? Shaking my head, I looked at Shay as she watched one of the girls.

"While most gods have abided by tradition and chose one companion of each sex, many have chosen to accept all girls offered to them. Most become part of a harem instead of the intended companions they were meant to be. But it makes no difference; as long as the golden god was made aware of the gift, our goal has been partiality completed."

"Partially?" I asked. She ignored me and walked back to the doorway. "What happens to the girls who aren't chosen?" My question was meet with silence and I began to grow frustrated with her ignoring me. I walked up to her and she saw the anger in my eyes. Terrified, she slowly backed into the wall beside the open door and her lips parted and closed; as if she was going to say something then changed her mind. I smashed the wall beside her with my right arm and I felt her cringe. "Answer me." I demanded. I felt the power shoot up into my head and could tell that the color of my eyes had changed. Looking into my gold eyes, Shay's own dulled as she started to explain to me what would happen to the girls who were not chosen.

"At the command of previous gods, we are told what to do with them. Previous request have made us force most of them to be sold into human prostitution; because apparently that is the most amusing to them. In past years, with instances like the golden god Redrick Terium, he made a specfic request that we force the girls that didn't fill his requirements to become sex slaves of the highest bidding human. This is the part that even I have come to disgust. Obeying without question as we ruin the precious lives of our children." Shay's eyes began to shine again, but the truth continued to spill from her like water flowing from a dam that had just been broken. It couldn't stop. And neither could she.

"In the end," she added on bitterly. "we're all slaves when it comes to you gods. You can ruin lives by just flicking your wrist. After Red died, those girls were recovered. Us sirens are peaceful creatures and only use violence when absolutely necessary; so it broke our heart when we saw how we ruined the minds of those girls. Potential. Simply all thrown to waste at the flimsy order of a god." She stopped speaking again and her eyes began to gloss over. "So now what? What are you going to do now that you know the truth? We don't know what will happen to the remaining girls. That's because the gods are the ones that tell us what to do with them. Whether it's good or bad, we'll carry it out because in the end of the day, we've never had a choice."

"You always have a choice." I said sadly as I looked at her tearing eyes. She closed them shut and placed her hands on my shoulders.

"Not when we're rebelling against a god."

My jaw clenched and I looked away. Her words were like daggers to my heart, and I finally understood why they hurt so much.

Because it was true.

I moved away from Shay and she looked at me confused. "Mike?" She called out nervously. I walked over to the cages and stopped at the first one lined against the left side of the wall.

"Maybe I can't reverse the damage that's been done." I murmered as I bent down on my knees near a cage. "But maybe I can change things for the better good of this generation."

I crawled closer to the bars and looked at the small naked girl hugging her knees in the far right corner of the cage.

"Hi." I whispered to her. She remained unmoved inside her cage, but her eyes darted up. She was Asian, but had blue eyes. I bit my tongue to hid my surprise noise and made a small smile at her. "Do you want to leave this place?"
