"So... How is Shay's blood actually going to help Mike?" Freya asked as Shay rolled up her sleeve. Shay rolled her eyes and Freya began to grow annoyed. "Anyone?"

Marceline responded quiearly as she looked down at Mike's head, covered in red blotches of blood.

"An Angel's blood can heal any wounds besides death, but no one can bring back the dead. We all know that. "

Shay looked at Marceline impressed. "That's true, but angels don't play on the same rule book as other beings."

Anastasia crossed her arms and looked away, her expression stoic.

"You see... " Shay began. "Vampires were never originally warriors. They were healers in the Nemal era. However, they soon learned to apply their purely regenerative abilities into being able to defend themselves, since as healers they were weak and vulnerable. They went from defensive to offensive."

"We became a fighting species, predators." Marceline remarked surprised. Anastasia took note of her choice of words but said nothing. Shay agreed enthusiastically, obvious enjoyment playing on her face that someone could even be interested in what she had to say.

"Exactly! The vampires were becoming bloodthirsty and had begun on the quest of supremacy. Those not overcome by pride and arrogance however, sought out a way to safeguard their knowledge in the years to come- Angels. In order to keep previous forbidden techniques developed by them into falling into the wrong hands, they taught angels the secret of their powers, and that included restoring the tether between a body and it's soul. They have long forgotten the method since becoming as murderous as they have. In the meanwhile, us angels have honed the techniques, perfecting it, and using it to do our maker's work. Well, those of us who are Christians anyway. "

"A phoniex type angel like Shay?" Anastasia said looking away. "Her blood contains the secrets of vampires so ancient that it couldn't even be trusted to the species itself. Even though she's only unlocked partial of the abilities, any Angel that could unlock all of the information in their blood could potentially gain the ability to surpass even death itself. The ancient vampires were just that powerful. And Shay just so happens to already have unlocked a useful ability that could save Mike." Freya looked from Anastasia's red eyes to Mike's still bleeding head.

"Okay, so Mom has information in her blood that could save Mike. And she knows something that could help. But what is it exactly?" Marceline scoffed at Freya's lack of knowledge and Freya clenched her jaw in annoyance.

Anastasia stood up straight and one could hear her back crack as she stretched. "Shay can either seperate a soul from it's host body, or mend the bond as long as the soul still hasn't completey departed. So in other words, it's still possible to bring Mike back." Shay stiffened and Ana breathed in. "Shay could pull Mike from the river of the dead, but someone will need to enter his mind and convince him not to pass on and to stay here on Earth with the rest of us."

"We could always just pull him out." Shay mummered. Anastasia sighed upset as she rested a hand on her hip. "If we pulled him out, he'd be attracted to the Light. And no one returns from there besides ArchAngels." Shay nodded her understanding and Marceline rose up almost immediately.

"I'll do it," Marceline volunteered. "I've known him the longest, it'll only be right if I'm the one to bring him back."

"No way!" Freya furiously retorted, her face twisted in disgust. "This is coming from the bitch who stabbed the back of his head open and drained his strength for like an hour? You're the reason Mike was so weak and couldn't regenerate! You're the reason he died after we... no. Just no! Over my dead body am I going to let you go to Mike now. I've loved Mike months before I even met him! If anyone gets to go in his head, it'll definitely be me!"

"No..." Marceline growled as she butt heads with Freya. "It's going to be me!"

Shay looked amused at them and leaned over to Anastasia before remarking, "Those two are kind of like dogs, aren't they? Even after the kid died, they just keep on-" Shay silenced herself after Anastasia glared down at her harshly. "Sorry."

"There's no way I'd allow those two to even get near his mental state." She bitterly said after observing Marceline and Freya bicker. "They're not even thinking about him."

"There are others." Shay whispered. Anastasia looked confused and Shay looked over at Hailey, Freya's cousin who held the twins like her life depended on it. One of the werewolf hunters remained at an arms length away from her, his eyes focused on the Queen's as she eyed Hailey over. "It's already obvious by how hard she convinced Freya to fight for Mike that there's more than feelings of friendship there."

"Oh?" Ana said considering it. "But how well do they actually know each other?" Shay shrugged.

"She hasn't done anything significant enough to actually mean something to Mike, I should think. It seems pretty one sided."

"And his blood advisor?" Ana asked, signalling to the tall blonde girl who's golden swirling tattooed wrist was beginning to fade. She had been knocked out earlier after receiving a portion of Mike's physical pain. She had remained unconscious as her body laid against the door of the house. A dark black cat with green eyes and a collar watched over the body. "Would she work?"

Shay bit her lip as she mulled it over. "It could..." she began. "if she was conscious. As impressive as she is, sending her the way she is now would just be like sending another soul to the river of the dead."

"I can wake her up." Ana said beginning towards her. Shay's eyes widened when a fighting Marceline and Shay cut the Queen off. Anastasia's eye twitched and it looked like she was about to explode.

Micheal had died for them to stop fighting. So that they wouldn't hurt each other. So that they could have a chance to live. And here they were, fighting again about who was to blame for his death.

Utterly pathetic.

"Forget the girl." Anastasia said coming back to a kneeled Shay. Shay had already begun the process of repairing the bond between Mike's soul and body when Ana came storming back in her direction. Shay's blood had been smeared all over his chest and she had already coated his still heart in her blood. All that was needed now was the blood of the concious advisor to pull him out from his path. She looked at the Queen confused as to how her mind could have possibly changed so quickly.

"Without someone to guide him, he might as well remain dead." Shay reminded Ana. The Queen sat down beside Shay and looked at the angel in the eye.

"I know." She said, using her fangs to rip her palm open before digging into Mike's exposed chest, squeezing his heart when she had found it. "That's why I'm going in."
