**Last Chapter**
"Beside the neutral act between the humans and sirens, I have another request. The girls in your custody... all ten of them. I want them to be trained with a few more children. The male vampire offered to me by the Vampire species, and a human girl."
"Human?" Shay said incredulously. "Were you not aware of our plans Michael? We were going to war with that species! Anastasia, what did you say about all of this?"
Anastasia looked from the doorway, uninterested. She often wore that expression that screamed lack of interest since Marceline died. "Michael made a promise to a dying God." She said in an obvious tone. "I am no one to stand in his way. I am only his love, and I will respect his decision to abide by a dying wish." Anastasia looked back down at the floor and Shay seemed to be shaken by the sudden proposal of it all.
"Let me get this straight..." Shay said rubbing her temple. "You want us to train the ten mixed species girls, the Vampire boy, and a human girl in order to maintain peace between humans and every other species that wishes to attack them?"
"The sirens sudden desire to attack a helpless species made me think." I said, standing up and moving more closely to Shay. "There were no hostile feelings between both species. So what was it exactly that triggered the sudden idea to go to war and to conquer?" I walked up to Shay who had nervously backed into a wall. I was close enough to feel our breaths mingle and I took a step back.
"Greed." I concluded. "Greed leads the rich and the poor like a woman leads her man, or how a man leads his dog. Those children? I looked into their eyes, and I saw hope where everywhere else I saw death. And Shay, I'm going to have to ask you to lead those kids."
"Why me?" She asked in a sudden snarky tone. "I have a responsibility to my people."
"You have a responsibility to me. I lost someone because you failed to inform me of the true nature of the war. And of all the things it could have been, it was greed. I would greatly appreciate not having to force you into this role." I threatened through a seemingly harmless smile. Shay flinched, then slowly accepted.
"Me and the girls will be in M. Academy tommorrow at sunrise. I'll arrange for the arrival of the son of vampires and a human girl I've had my eye on." She paused. "I look forward to being enlisted in your service my lord." I walked closer to Shay and gently kissed her cheek.
"Thank you Shay." I whispered in her ear. Her face became beat red and I used her loss for words as an opportunity to slip away, Anastasia's hand in my own.
"Don't you think that was a little too much?" Anastasia asked suddenly as we wandered the Queen's palace. I stopped walking ahead, but kept our fingers intertwined together.
"I'm sorry, I wasn't thinking."
Anastasia nodded as if she understood, but I could tell what she was thinking. Of Marceline. I wasn't thinking when I killed her.
I was... I am a mindless monster.
I let her hand go and stuffed them back into my coat pockets.
It's fine. If she needs time to cope with what's happened, even an idiot like me can respect that.
"Anastasia, we should get going. Vale and Freya are in the human world and I want to go see the twins. Unless you'd like to stay here. I'd understand if you'd like some space from here on-"
I was cut off when a body suddenly came onto me. Anastasia's body pinned me against one of the extravagant walls and she hugged me tightly. "Don't say that." She whispered, her voice shaking. "Don't act like you're okay. You're a victim in all of this too."
