I remembered the last conversation me and Marceline shared before I came to this society. We were in the school's library thay was rarely ever used by it's students. I found her by asking students if they had seen her pass by. And surely enough, there she was. Not reading like I expected her to be, but passed out on the top of a tall shelf.
"Hey." I remembered whispering to her. She didn't move, so I began to one-handedly shove her a bit. "Hey, Marceline. Wake up."
"Five more minutes." She muttered. It was cute, and the way her brown hair fell over her long eyelashes and pink cheeks made my heart skip a beat. But for some reason her response made me see red and pissed me off.
I was missing an arm. She was the only one that could have helped me.
And she was napping.
I shoved her off the shelf and she went flying to the next. Her eyes were wide with surprise and she had blood in the corner of her mouth. That's when I realized that I was out of line. "I'm sorry-"
"What is your problem?" She screamed at me. I was startled so I shut up instantly. "You couldn't wake me up like a regular person?" I opened my mouth to respond but in that moment she placed her hand on her head and groaned. "Fuck it hurts... what do you want?" I looked at Marceline worried, but decided to ignore the signs.
If she's hurting she'd tell me.
"It's about my arm." I stated. She looked up at me and scoffed.
"Yeah no shit. Wait a minute..." Marceline slowly walked towards me, but stopped halfway. "What is it you're expecting me to do?"
Her question caught me by surprise, so I responded by saying, "What I'm expecting...?" I repeated. I coughed and cleared my throat. "I'm expecting you to help me out and to give me some blood." Marceline's eyes narrowed as she slowly walked closer to me.
"Did you forget?" She asked sternly while looking into my brown eyes. "That you belong to my mother now?"
My eyes widened and I shook my head. "Of course I didn't forget. It's just that-"
"Just what?" She cut me off angrily. "You aren't mine. I can't help you, so don't expect help from me." She turned to walk away, but I reached out to grab her wrist.
"Don't turn your back on me." I growled. "I need you now." I felt my eyes glow and she stiffened in my hand. "Give me your blood. " I ordered.
And then she turned around.
She rested a hand on top of mine and slowly began to undue it's vice like hold on her wrist. "I never thought the day would come when you would order me..." She took my hand off her wrist and gripped it tightly enough for me to feel faint. "But I'm not just a vampire anymore." Her eyes glowed just as bright as mine, except I could see some dashes of blood red where mine only gold and dashes of brown could be seen.
"Why won't you help me?" I asked sadly. I looked at her as my eyes began to gloss over and she released my hand.
"You aren't mine; and you don't love me. There's nothing I can do for you anymore." The words were heavy with pain, but silence met them and she took that as permission to leave.
And I let her.
I rubbed a hand over my face when I heard that the Vampire King had kidnapped Marceline and some of the others.
"When will it stop ...?"
"Michael." Suddenly, I could feel Anastasia's hand rubbing my back. I had blanked out and she had been right there comforting me. I realized that my eyes had been glowing and I blinked until I felt them eyes change back.
