The outdoor seating of the cafe was uncomfortable, but the perfect weather and slight breeze kept you while you worked on a project. This last week had been extra quiet.
Toji hadn't left Megumi at your doorstep, nor had there been any texts or calls. You took the hint to leave it be. Despite any guilty feelings.
You jumped as your ringtone pierced the quiet space. "Y/n speaking, how can I help you?"
"Are you trying to convince me you're really working?" Your mother laughed. You wished you could take her jokes as such and not jabs.
"What's up?"
"I'm planning a birthday party and need your help with some stuff. Like some cooking and...well you're the planner."
It's not yours or your mothers birthday. Which left the other side. Thankfully no blood relations. You'd jump off a bridge if you had those genes.
"Oh yeah? For who?
--later on--
Your bag slid off your arm, landing on the sofa. Sighing heavily you shuffled through the mail. Bill, bill, bill, coupons, insurance, bill, Sparkz Elementary? You threw the junk to the side, ripping the top of the elementary elvelope. You pulled the little paper outside, smile inching its way up your cheeks. It was a flat stanley.
---next week, saturday---
You'd have been proud of this party if you'd been payed for its planning. Of course, it had all gone smoothly. The company set of the tents early in the morning at the park, the caterers arrived with everything needed, and people moseyed about with content smiles.
"Y/n is that you?"
You let out a small huff, twirling around with a pleasant smile, "Oh hey!" This woman was apart of that other side, she'd babysat you every once and awhile as a child.
"Look how beautiful you are!" She made that time a living hell.
"Thank you." You chuckled.
"Oh of course, you got so big since last I saw you. Have you found some friends out here?" She took it upon herself to hold your hand between her own.
"Mm no not yet."
"Well just know that we're always thinking about you, everyone back home." She smiled.
To an outsider, maybe this would look like a nice pleasant conversation. But, you knew the hidden meaning behind her words. You'd heard these people talk bad about others when they weren't around.
"Y/n!" Your mother called.
"Excuse me." You smiled, walking toward the flustered woman. "Yes?"
"Where are the candles?"
"Why would I know?" You looked at her blankly.
"What do you mean? You were supposed to plan these kind of things." She sighed.
"I planned the setting, food and drink, and entertainment without receving a dime."
"This is family, you can do those things without getting money." She hushidly yelled.
You scoffed, "Not my family."
"Yes your family! Besides, how often do you even work, not like its a real job." She uttered the last part, looking away from you.
You rose your brows. "Hm. Okay. I'm leaving. I see no reason for my being here."
"You're seriously leaving right now?"
