ankle

everyone turned around to look at billie and realized that she was on the floor, her ankle starting to swell like crazy as she began sobbing.

"billie?!" finneas raised his voice as he turned around and crouched next to billie, everyone else surrounding them. "are you okay?"

y/n noticed how beautiful billie looked even when she was crying from pain. the way her hair flew in the wind and her eyes glistened with tears, the pout on her lips, her hands constantly trying to wipe away her tears, only for more to flow, everything about her was stunning. though it wasn't the right time, y/n couldn't help but admire billie's beauty.

"no, i'm not fucking okay!" billie yelled in excruciating pain, sobbing violently. "i'm sorry, it just- it hurts. it hurts so bad." she cried out, hugging her ankle but immediately regretting putting pressure on it.

"can you walk, honey?" maggie asked, to which billie shrugged. finneas got up before helping billie up, but as soon as she got on her feet, she fell back down and began sobbing louder ; both out of pain and embarassment.

"here." y/n said as she walked closer and carried billie bridal style with no effort, surprising her. "i'll take you back to the cabin."

"are you sure? i can take her back if you'd like me to." patrick said, making y/n shake her head with a smile. "no, it's okay. i don't mind. you guys go on and enjoy the hike."

"okay, well make sure to go to the main office and ask for a doctor. and call us once you reach." maggie said, making y/n nod.

everyone said their goodbyes and y/n started the long walk to the reception cabin with billie in her arms, her hands wrapped around y/n's neck.

billie had finally calmed down a little, but tears were still streaming down her cheeks. y/n looked at her and pouted. "you feeling any better, baby?" she asked, making billie shake her head and bury her face in y/n's neck, sobbing softly. "it hurts." she whispered, y/n sighing in response.

"hang in there. we'll get you a doctor soon." she said, giving billie a kiss on the cheek. "you're okay. you're going to be okay." she whispered, trying to calm billie down.

it took a while for them to reach the main office where people usually came to book their cabins and whatnot. y/n's hands were practically dying by then, but she didn't let it show so that billie didn't feel bad. "we're here." she whispered to billie as she sat her down on one of the chairs. "wait here. i'll go talk to the receptionist." y/n added, giving billie a soft kiss on her forehead before walking over to the receptionist.

billie just sat there in unbearable pain, looking at her swollen ankle. she choked back her sobs, not wanting to cry since there were sevaral people filing into the lobby.

finally, y/n came back with some ice and a disappointed look on her face. billie looked at her in confusion before asking, "what happened?" making y/n sigh. "the doctor is on leave today. they said they'll send him to our cabin first thing tomorrow. but for now, we're just going to have to get you on some pain killers. pretty sure i packed some." y/n explained, which made billie frown and nod. "okay."

y/n lifted billie up again, making billie hold the ice, walking to their shared cabin which took them more time than expected. on the way there, billie wanted to stop for a while to give y/n's arms rest, and although y/n said it was fine, billie insisted.

when they finally reached their cabin, y/n gently placed billie on the bed with ice on her foot before rummaging through her luggage to find painkillers for billie.

handing the tablet to billie along with some water, billie gave her a slight smile. "thank you for bringing me all the way here." she said, making y/n smile back at her. "is there anything i can do for you?" y/n asked, making billie open her arms.

"cuddle." she demanded, which made y/n laugh as she did as she was told. crawling in next to billie and pulling the covers over them, y/n wrapped her arms around billie as the grasshead laid on her chest. "is the pain better yet?" y/n whispered after about fifteen minutes, making billie yawn and nod. "mhm."

soon enough, billie had fallen asleep - a side effect of the medicine. y/n looked at her and laughed softly, kissing her little nose before picking up her phone, realizing she had forgotten to call maggie.

she dialed maggie's number, and maggie picked up in the second ring - surprising, considering the fact that there was little to no service in the woods.

"hello? y/n, how's billie doing? what did the doctor say?"

"billie's okay, she just fell asleep. the doctor seems to be on leave today so they said they'll have him sent to our cabin tomorrow. i just gave billie a tablet for the pain and some ice and she's sleeping now."

"oh, okay. thank you y/n, really. would you like to come back for the hike? i could stay with billie if you'd like?"

"no, no it's okay, maggie. i don't mind."

"are you sure?"

"positive."

"okay, thanks so much hon. take care!" maggie said before hanging up.

billie slept for around an hour before she woke up to y/n laying in the same position that she was before billie fell asleep, holding billie in her arms.

feeling billie shift, y/n looked at her with a smile. "hey mama. how's your leg?" she asked, billie blushing at the name.

"it hurts but it feels a lot better." she said, sitting up so that her face was on level with y/n's. "that's good." y/n said, leaning in to kiss billie's lips.

"thank you for taking care of me." billie said with a blush present on her cheeks which made y/n chuckle. "it's my pleasure."

"i'm so embarassed you saw me like that." billie groaned, covering her face with her hands. "i was such a mess."

"hey." y/n said, pulling billie's hands away from her face. "i swear to god you looked so pretty even when you were crying. i don't know how the fuck you manage to look so perfect all the time." she said, making billie shake her head.

"you're just saying that to make me feel better." she said, which made y/n chuckle softly.

"no, i'm serious. there you were, crying your eyes out, but i couldn't help but stop and stare for a few seconds to admire you. you genuinely looked gorgeous and i have to admit, i'm a little jealous because my crying face is ugly as hell." y/n said, making billie blush before laughing at her last comment.

"god, i like you so much." billie mumbled before cupping y/n's face and pulling her in for a passionate kiss.

and y/n had done it. she'd got billie's mind off her ankle, thereby reducing the pain and agony she was going through. she really was the perfect partner billie could've ever asked for. and billie sure was grateful.
