Chapter 28: Heir of Slytherin

As the door slowly closes behind her, Athena climbs down the ladder and walks down the corridor. Looking ahead, she sees Ginny lying motionless at the end of the Chamber. She is clutching Tom Riddle's diary.

"GINNY" scream the Weasleys and Prewetts "Fred go sit with Ginny, she'll need you to cheer her up" Fred nods and sits next to Ginny, Athena then stands and makes her way to her parents, she sits between them. Lily and James pull her into a hug and give her big smiles.

Athena: Ginny. [runs to her, drops her wand and gets on her knees] Ginny. No, Ginny. Please don't be dead. Wake up. Wake up! Please wake up.

"You are so stupid why would you drop your wand" Peter rolls his eyes "I was 12 Peter sorry I'm not as smart as an aurora" she glares at the rat, James, Sirius and Remus all stare at Peter wondering why he's been acting like a prick.

Suddenly, Tom Riddle walks out of a nearby doorway.

"Well that's not creepy at all" Marlene commented "Babe I love you but shut up" Dorcas smiled sweetly whilst Marlene crosses her arms and frowns

Riddle: She won't wake.

Athena recognizes his voice and turns toward him. Riddle walks to her.

Athena: Tom? Tom Riddle? What do you mean she won't wake? She's not...?
Riddle: She's still alive, but only just.
Athena: Are you a ghost?

Athena turns to her dad who wasn't looking at her and shouts "Boo" "AHHHHHHH" Athena was sat there clutching her stomach others were laughing too especially James' friends "Athena why would you do that" James pouted "I'm sorry dad but i had the chance so I took it, also why did you sound like a girl?" Athena couldn't stop laughing. James decided to be the mature one and stick his tongue out, Lily looked at the pair with a bright smile.

Riddle: A memory, preserved in a diary for fifty years.

"How is that even possible"

Athena: [reaches out and touches Ginny] She's as cold as ice. Ginny, please don't be dead. Wake up. [while Athena's not looking, Riddle bends down and picks up Athena's wand from where she left it] You've got to help me, Tom. There's a Basilisk.

"CONSTANT VIGILANCE" "Alastor stop it right now!" "Oooo Minnie's mad" "Ms Potter shut up"

Riddle: It won't come until it's called.
Athena: [looks up to see Riddle holding her wand and stands up] Give me my wand, Tom.
Riddle: You won't be needing it.
Athena: Listen, we've got to go. We've got to save her!
Riddle: I'm afraid I can't do that, Athena. You see, as poor Ginny grows weaker, I grow stronger. [Athena looks at him, confused] Yes, Athena. It was Ginny Weasley who opened the Chamber of Secrets. [Ginny is shown standing in front of the sink in Moaning Myrtle's bathroom as it opens]
Athena: No. She couldn't. She wouldn't.
Riddle: It was Ginny who set the Basilisk on the Mudbloods and Filch's cat, Ginny who wrote the threatening messages on the walls. [Ginny is show using her blood-covered fingers to write on the wall]
Athena: But why?
Riddle: Because I told her to. You'll find I can be very persuasive. Not that she knew what she was doing. She was, shall we say, in a kind of trance. [as Ginny is shown running into a stall and throwing the diary into the toilet] Still, the power of the diary began to scare her. And she tried to dispose of it in the girls' bathroom. And then, who should find it but you? The very person I was most anxious to meet.

Everyone sent pity looks to Ginny, who hid in her mothers arms.

Athena: [stands in front of the Slytherin statue] And why did you want to meet me?
Riddle: I knew I had to talk to you, meet you if I could. So I decided to show you my capture of that brainless oaf Hagrid to gain your trust.
