Chapter 10: Godrics Hollow

Ron: All right, I'll spit it out. Don't expect me to skip up and down because now there's some other damn thing we've got to find.
Hermione: [quietly] Ron...
Athena: I thought you knew what you signed up for.
Ron: Yeah, I thought I did too.
Athena: I don't understand. What part of this isn't living up to your expectations? Did you think we'd be staying in five-star hotels? Finding a Horcrux every other day? Did you think you'd be back to Mummy by Christmas?

"Athena!" Lily and James scold.

Theo: Athena!
Ron: No, I just reckoned after all this time, we'd have actually achieved something. I reckoned you knew what you were doing. I reckoned Dumbledore had told you something worthwhile! I reckoned you had a plan!
Athena: I've told you everything Dumbledore told me! And in case you haven't noticed, we've found a Horcrux!
Ron: Yeah, and we're about as near getting rid of it as we are to finding the rest of them, aren't we!
Blaise: Take it off, Ron. Please take it off. You wouldn't be talking like this if you hadn't been wearing it all day --

"Listen to him," Molly pleaded.

Athena: Yeah, he would. D'you think I haven't noticed the two of you whispering behind my back? D'you think I haven't guessed what you were thinking?

Everyone in the hall share looks. The parents look worried about what's going to happen.

Hermione: Athena, we weren't --
Ron: Don't lie! You said it, too, you said you were disappointed --
Theo: Guys!
Hermione: I didn't! Not like that! Athena -- I didn't!
Ron: Do you know why I listen to that radio, every night? Do you! To make sure I don't hear Ginny's name or Fred or George or Mum or --
Athena: You think I don't listen! You think I don't know what it's like --
Ron: NO! YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT IT'S LIKE! YOUR PARENTS ARE DEAD! YOU HAVE NO FAMILY!

Everyone gasps. Molly and Arthur pale so do the Prewett twins and the rest of the Weasleys. The slytherin group all stare at the screen wide eyed. Remus and Sirius stare at each other and look at James who was seething with rage. James lunges for Ron but Athena blocks his way. "Get the fuck out of the way, Bambi!" James shouts. "No dad, it's fine. It's been sorted!" Athena said trying to calm him down. "I'll fucking kill him if he says that again," James sneers. Fred was sat there glaring heatedly at Ron.

Dead silence. Athena glares at Ron. Hermione looks shocked. Blaise and Theo have their mouths wide open. Athena tilts her head and lunges at Ron, punching him clean around the face. Ron try's tackling her to the floor. Hermione rushes in.

"Ouch."

Hermione: Stop! Stop!

They let go, step back. Athena points to Ron's neck.

Athena: Go then. But leave that.

Hermione, eyes flashing with panic, glances from Athena to Ron. Ron strips the chain from his neck, casts it away, then turns to Hermione.

Ron: And you?
Hermione: Me?
Ron: Are you staying? Or coming?

Hermione looks anguished, glancing from one to the other. The canvas streams with rain behind her.

Ron: Fine. I get it. I saw you and Theo the other night. Yeah, that's right. Didn't know I knew, did you?

"This is such a big mess all because of that stupid horcrux," Narcissa sighs.

Hermione: What? Ron, no -- please --

He whips aside the tent flap and the RAIN ROARS. As Hermione rushes after him, she tips over the radio. As it HISSES Athena glowers at the Horcrux. Seconds later, Hermione returns, sopping hair plastered to her face.
