"I am going to Anaheim suckers! "
That was the last thing I said out to my family. It wasn't meant to be rude, but on the other side, I was thrilled as hell. After months of working, it finally has become reality: A ticket to the next hockey game for the famous Mighty Ducks against the Polar bears...was mine. And now, there was only me and the open road. After all, coming straight from Canada, it would take some hours to get there.
But it seems that I wasn't the only one losing his mind over this.
One young boy was getting ready for the evening, holding a massive poster of the ducks in his hands. This time, he was going to get his autographs...especially from Mallory. He always had a huge crush on the female duck. Ever since they rescued him from Dragaunus, he was working just as hard on his experiments. For this he got a ticket for the game. I guess everyone has to give all they got for one hockey game of the ducks.
Phil, the ducks manager, was over his head.
He finds it a good idea to sell limited tickets out, a plan which the Mighty Ducks never agreed to. For them, Hockey is a game and not a job. Wild wing, the goalie and team captain of the team, wants to set Phil straight. At least he tried. The manager couldn't be persuaded and refused to sell out any more. His excuse: The game will be a financial hit! As long as the money flows, Phil won't reconsider. He could sell a lot of tickets, but why should he do that if he can sell less for a higher price? Wild wings answer: This might cause trouble.
And he wasn't wrong there.
To get some fuel and something to eat, I had to stop at the nearest station. Nothing unusual happened; I paid and was back in my car. I should have paid more attention to my stuff; I would have noticed something different. But who cares, the tickets was there, so what does it matter? Just to make sure, I placed it into my purse. Unaware that this trip will be a disaster, I continued the journey. Not long and I will see the team in action.
The mighty Ducks however, had other problems to deal with than the game.
They had another mission, to save Anaheim from the Saurian's...once again. There way of crime has gone to another level. This time, they had their eye on famous scientists. The ducks managed to save the humans, but had no idea of Dragaunus new plan to destroy the world. For Nosedive, the little brother of Wild wing was this failure.
"Aw man! They are really getting on my beak."
Wild wing nodded, "I agree little brother, with the Saurian's on the loose and it will be hard to focus on our game tonight."
Mallory was staring in disbelieve at her team captain, "Who cares for the game?! Our only goal is to destroy the Saurian's, nothing else should matter!"
"I know how you feel Mallory, but Hockey is the only thing that gets us the money we need to improve our gear."
Before she could start an argument, the other female in the team got between the two, "Hold it Mallory, Wild wing is right. But on the other hand, we should really be on our guard. Stealing scientists is nothing to take lightly. With the knowledge the humans have, he could do all sorts of things to humanity or even worse...the world."
The Goalie sighted, "Alright Tanya, we still have some time before we play. See if you can locate the Raptor in the meantime."
"I feel bad vibes coming closer", said Grin, the tallest and strongest member of the team. Nosedive grinned, pointing behind the big guy, "You can say that again, it is heading our way." Phil looked like he would have a head attack at any moment. With a red face and angered voice, he barked at the team, "Look at that! How can your fans do this to me?! Selling out fake ticket..."
Duke tries to calm him down, "Relax Phil, take a deep breath."
"...why didn't I think of it?"
The entire team yelled out, "Phil?!"
"I know, I know. We are the good guys; we don't do such things...unfortunately."
Wild wing sighted, "I told you there will be trouble. The next game will be the way we want it, understood Phil?"
"Of course Wing, you are the king of ducks."
That was his way to say: I messed it up again...sorry...fix it for me. He just can't say it like a normal human being.
The pond was completely sold out; the rows were long and took ages. Thankfully, I arrived at it sooner than expected, including a place to park my car and into the first queue. Right before me was a boy with long blond hair, holding something rolled up. My curiosity couldn't be contained. I tipped his shoulder, "Excuse me, boy?"
"What is it?"
"What is the thing you are holding?"
"This?" Proudly, he presented me the large image of the Mighty ducks, "I want to get all the autographs on this poster. Don't you want any?"
Raising my hands in guild, I laughed, "Nope, just here for the game."
"I can't wait, there won't be so many that could block my view this time. Hey, how about we sit together?" This boys friendly nature got me hooked, "I love to."
"I am Buzz, the ducks right hand man."
"Charmed, I am N/A, no one's right or left hand."
While we laughed, the security didn't have any use for humor. Obviously there were a lot of fake tickets going around. As we got there, he inspected me and Buzz very carefully. Exchanging his gaze to the ticket back to us, he spoke up in his deep tone, "Good, you can go in." At the entrance, I stood there with my eyes wide open. The ice rink was rather full for the limited tickets. Buzz breathed out annoyed, "Damn it. Come N/A; let's get a seat at the front row." Tugging at my sleeve, he pulled me along.
"Come on N/A, hurry up before...oh wow...there they are!"
Nearby were the Ducks in their gear. Countless photographers and journalists were surrounding the team, asking random questions. The captain took the lead and answered all questions, as long as Phil allowed it. Buzz had to see them in person, completely forgotten his actual goal. Shrugging at this, I followed quietly.
But it seems not quiet enough.
The security guard had grabbed my shoulder, ordering me to join him at the entrance. The man who let us in frowned, "Do you think we are idiots?"
"I have no idea what you are talking about Sir."
"Then let me refresh your memory, shall we?" going though some papers, holding the ticket up to my face, "Do you remember this?"
I nodded, not sure what he is on about. But what he said next, gave me a great shock.
"This is a fake. We just let you pass so you can have at least one glance at the Ducks. You know where I am going with this?"
I shook my head. My reaction made him breathe out sharp, "It means, that you won't get in anymore."
"What???? It can't be, the ticket is real, I bought it at the official website!"
"Listen lady, we know how a fake ticket looks like and this is no original. You been tricked. I am sorry; you won't be able to see the game."
"I drove all the way from Canada just to see it. Please Sir, make one exception."
The guard stayed firm, "If we do, several others follow. Please step away now."
"I can't believe it."
There I was, locked out and all alone at the parking spot. It took me hours to get here, getting home now was impossible. Disappointed I looked at the pond. Suddenly, an urge took control over my conscience, something I never done in my entire life, "If I can't get in there legally, I get in the illegal way."
