41. The best for everyone

It was finally over.

Klegghorn may need a few more days till his appearance changes back to human, but this didn't stop him to confiscate the raptor. The rest of Dragaunus henchmen were send after their boss hours later. However, if the ducks are in need of the portal, the captain wouldn't hesitate to grant it. As much as he doesn't like the ducks, sending them back home is nothing he would refuse.

Duke got me off the raptor and sends me straight to hospital with Canard. He needed an operation as quick as possible, losing a lot of blood on his way there. In the meantime, Wild wing was taking over the role of the team captain again. He has to do what they came for, those were Canard's words. Mallory had also said it more than once, not to put the goalie under pressure mind. He knew that they don't belong here to earth. Wild wing sees themselves as guests of the planet, with the demand that they have to leave once their mission is over.

But does anyone want to go home?

The main reason of returning back to Puck world was to see how it developed during their absence. No one knows if their home planet is in danger or not. Either way, they had no choice but to go back. For Wild wing a tough decision. He didn't want to leave me. His feeling only grew through the last days, making it even harder for the goalie to chose. Staying behind was not an option. Canard was sure that either they all go or no one. The rest of the ducks didn't want to stay because of Wing's relationship, so it was chosen for him. Even taking me with him was not allowed. The planet isn't made for humans, the air, temperature and food is not made for my body.

But how will he tell me this?

He visits me every day; always the same way. He knocks, comes in with a rose, we talk about random things and then he leaves. The vase was already over flown with roses. Although it was a romantic gesture of him, his smile was not real. He was hiding something from me, but refused to bring it up. I was no idiot, I knew what the problem was and I expected to be able to talk to my boyfriend about it.

With Phil was this one major problem.

He empties and entire box of tissues, once the ducks announced that they would leave earth. The manager won't have a team anymore and the mighty ducks will be forgotten in time. It would ruin him and the pond all together. Wild wing assured Phil, that the stadium is paid up for the next ten years. All he needs to do now; is find a new hockey team. Phil gave it another try, "What about fighting crime? Keeping Anaheim save?"

"Phil, we only did this to find Dragaunus. We done our job and now we have ot go back."

Before he left, the goalie asked Stanley and Buzz to keep an eye on me. The two should support me through the difficult times. For the boy not a good sign, "You are not telling her?"

"It is better that way"

Stanley crossed his amrd beofr ehis chest, "For her or you?"

"Please don't make it any hard than it already is"

Buzz felt awful that wild wing had not the guts to tell me that he leaves for good. I wasn't even aware that Canard has left the hospital before me, considering that his wounds are more crucial than mine. In Puck world he can get the professional help he needs. The Aerowing received an all round check by their engineer, to make sure it survives the dimensional limbo and in case a worm may cross their path again. Nosedive filled one corner of the plane with comics, "I won't be able to follow them anymore..." Mallory just shrugged, "Puck world has also comics."

"But not as badass like the humans do. Or the way they spice up their burgers or the warm summer days in Florida..." He could have made a list on what he will miss out on. It seems everyone had something they are going to miss. The only difference is that Wild wing's will be the most painful one. Canard grabbed his old friend's shoulder, "It is time Wild wing."

"Can we at least say good bye to here?"

Canard shook his head, "It will only make it worse. Leave it be."

Although we didn't know each other well, he sure knew how I will react. I heard how the Aerowing started to fly, seeing it at the hospital window. With Klegghorn inside the raptor, opened the portal. Still weak on my legs, I fell out of the bed while several cables just ripped off from my arms. With all strength I could bring up, I dragged myself to the window. With wide eyes, I had to watch the plane enter the portal...and disappear...forever.

There gone...

"I hate you Wild wing" I whined, feeling my heart ache.

Stanley and Buzz just entered the room on time, to help me get up. Stanley pressed the emergency button for the nurses. Buzz felt the same way, not pleased of the goalie's decision on not telling me in person. It was the warm arms of Stanley that held me tight. Despite what happened, the boys helped me get back on my feet. Afraid to explain this to my parents, Stanley offered me to live with him for the time being. Buzz got me a job at his place, assisting him at his inventions. What no one knew at the time the Aerowing left earth, Buzz sneaked something inside the plane.

It may not be too late for Wild wing and me...
