The morning after Jayden left, I wanted to pretend he was still going to be there.
Like when I walked into the kitchen I felt that he was going to be in there, eating some type of breakfast food.
But reality never lies far from the truth.
Instead, I was sitting in Kevin and Emily's sick bed room.
Kevin had a sling, and Emily couldn't get out of bed.
"While I've been healing, I've been thinking about the possibility of combining the battle wing and the samurai megazord." Kevin whipped out some detailed and colored sketches.
"Last time I had a sick day, I played video games, drank ginger ale and ate chicken soup." Mike laughed.
Ji walked in.
"Hello everyone. Have you all eaten breakfast yet? Emily, are you well?" Ji said, words spilling out of his mouth in an annoyingly cheerful voice.
"You can cut it with the happy-go-lucky act." I crossed my arms and muttered loudly. "Honestly, I really don't want to talk about it, so can we just avoid the subject?"
I knew the others exchanged worried looks surrounding me, but I was rather too upset to acknowledge it.
"Well, it's good to see you guys feeling better." Mike said, then walked outside.
I took a glance at Ji, who was looking worriedly at me.
I stood up and ran out, then jumped. In mid air, I turned into a crow and flew off.
I wasn't looking for pity.

I flew until I couldn't anymore. I was glad that I was able to carry a small journal and pen with me, so when I reached the park where Jayden was, I turned human again and pulled out the journal and pen and started writing.
I was so upset.
Everyone in my life had left me, except for maybe the Prof and the X-Men, along with Ji.
I wanted to trust Jayden.
I wanted to free fall and have him there to catch me.
But I knew I couldn't.
In a few months I would be on that plane again on the way to New York with my memory wiped of what happened.
What happened here.
I couldn't get attached.
It saved me from the pain.
A whole shit-load of pain.
I didn't have time to fall in love.
I wasn't ready to.
Jayden thinks it's hard?
What's hard is having your memory swiped of everything that happens on a mission.
What's hard is not making connections and pushing people away so you won't get hurt.
What's hard is not getting attached and not falling.
What's hard is having the world in your hands while you're being called a threat by people who hate what they're scared of.
I'm not normal. I never was.
Society's ranked me as the biggest outcast in the world.
And maybe I am.
But no one knows half of it.

I went back to the shiba house before the giant battle started.
I didn't feel like fighting.
It wasn't my fight. It was theirs.
Until then, I had to keep under the radar.
The team came back shortly after I did. Jayden was smiling.
I was happy Jayden was home but I wasn't smiling with my mouth, only my eyes.
We were permitted to have fun, and do anything we wanted (within the boundaries of the Shiba House, of course).
I hadn't had fun in a long time.
I waited until Ji was done talking to Jayden. During their private conversation, Ji glanced at me. They might have been talking about me. Jayden walked over.
"Even if it was a little while, I still missed you." I said once we walked into the house.
"I just needed time to clear my head." He shook his head. "So I hear a movie's in the works."
"Yup." I replied, popping the "p".
As we joined the others, I sat next to Jayden. Emily gave me a suggestive wink, and I shook my head.
During the movie, Jayden picked up my hand and put it in his.
His hand was twice the size of mine.
But it fit together, like little perfectly placed puzzle pieces.
Maybe I had a chance.
I just needed to let go and remind myself that even if I'm falling, he'll be there to catch me.
A/N:
Hey guys I feel like this was a total short bullsh*t chapter, I'm sorry I just couldn't leave you hanging because this is sort of a continued part of the test of the leader (at the end of the test of the leader episode it says to be continued so yeah) and I'm not an evil author so yeah. Let me know what you thought about it in the comments. I might update sooner than this next weekend if you guys give me more comments (AND THEY CAN NOT BE SPAM) so yeah, hope you guys enjoyed it even if it was a bullsh*t chapter.
