The Strange Case of the Munchies

Skipping over Kevin's Choice and Runaway Spike because neither of those two I can fit Ashlynn in. So let's go over to the Strange Case of The Munchies. This chapter is going to hurt.

Strangely, it was a normal day, or, at least, it felt like a normal day. The last normal day we had was two weeks ago, on Valentine's Day.

I was sitting outside in the courtyard. Jayden was there too, training. I was kind of training, learning how to pull out my wings in a non-painful way and shifting more quickly.

We took a quick break. Sweat glistened on Jayden's brow, while I stayed completely dry, no sweat at all.

"Hug?" He asked. I knew what I was getting into.

"One second." I changed into a husky, and let him hug me.

It's not the same. I like your human form much better. His voice whispered in my mind. Still, he pet me, and I turned back human.

"I'll let you hug me when you're not so stinky." I said, crinkling my nose.

"Can I settle for a kiss?" He asked quietly, his warm brown eyes staring into mine.

"Alright." I nodded. Without pulling me close, he kissed me softly on the forehead. I didn't mind, I had gotten used to my shortness a while back.

"Ash!" Evelyn said, Mia and Emily behind her. I looked away from Jayden and over at her.

"Yeah?" I asked, a little irritated that they chose now to ruin the moment.

"There's a mall sale happening, you coming?" Evelyn asked. I glared at her.

"Nevermind, you are coming." Evelyn said with a smirk on her face.

"There's no way I'm getting out of this, is there?" I asked.

"Nope. I'd rather torture you than have you be in paradise with Jay." Her smirk grew even wider, and Emily giggled. I rolled my eyes.

"God, Eve, you know I'm sh*t at shopping." I shook my head. "Jeez. Fine. I'll go." I gave Jayden a quick peck on the cheek. "Be safe."

"You know I never am." He replied, grinning.

"You know what I mean." I grinned back, then walked over to the girls. They were giggling and gossiping already. The same usual.

We were barely out of the gates before Evelyn nudged me. "So, how's Jayden? Hooked up yet?" She asked, wiggling her eyebrows.

"Are you daring me to go back into the gates and hang out with the boys?" I shot at her, blushing.

She shook her head. "No, I was just... Curious."

"I'm going slow, I mean, I don't want to rush him or anything. I'm his first girlfriend." I shrugged. "So no, we have not hooked up and I don't plan on doing it any time in the future. End of subject."

"Ooh, Evelyn, I saw you dance with my little brother on Valentines." Mia said, smiling.

"Er... Yeah." Now it was Evelyn's turn to blush.

"He can't stop talking about you. My parents want to meet you, so if and when the battle is over, you and Antonio are coming over for dinner." Mia informed her. "He really likes you, and rumor has it that he asked you out?"

"Yeah. I said yes." Evelyn nodded. Emily squealed.

"Ooh! We gotta get you ready when that happens!"
