We walked down to an Italian Restaurant, hand in hand.
"Why?" He finally croaked out. "Why did you hurt yourself when you were younger?"
"A lot of people believe that I'm not worth it to live. They believe mutants don't have human souls." I replied. "And for a while, I believed them."
"You're so much better than that." He said, stopping, and standing in front of me.
"Well, we know that now." I replied sarcastically.
"Ash, come on. I love you for a reason." Jayden gripped my shoulders. "I love you because you're sarcastic and funny. I love you because I know you'd do anything to help or save any of your friends. Do you want me to keep going?" When I didn't reply, he continued.
"I love you because you always know the right thing to say at the right time. I love you because you understand that it's difficult to be who I am. I love you because... You're you." He smiled. "Did that make you feel any better?"
"Yeah." I smiled a little. "It did."
"Let's get some lunch." He took my hand again, and we walked off to lunch.

Lunch was quiet, but that didn't mean anything. I liked being with him, and alone.
When the silence was unbearable, and I couldn't not speak anymore, I spoke up. We were sitting in a booth, and I moved so I could sit close to him and lean my head on his shoulder.
"I love you because even though you're tough, you have a soft side when you're with me. I love you because when I'm down, you bring me up. I love you because you're my whole world. I love you because you fixed me. I love you because even when I thought you wouldn't find me when they took me, you did. I love you because you're my superman. I love you because whenever I look at you, I'm home." I whispered. "When I first got here, I had no idea how much you would mean to me. Now, I know."
A smile is all I need to know that he heard it.
