I walked into the kitchen where everyone was having breakfast. Jayden's eyes locked straight into mine and he gaped at me before rushing over for a hug and kiss.
"Oh my god, Ash. I was so worried... Where did you go?"
"I had to take care of a few casualties. Funerals. Helping people. Recovery." I shrugged.
A blonde girl leaned into my line of sight. "Excuse me, did I miss something?"
I removed Jayden's hands, and walked over to the girl. "I'm Ashlynn, Jayden's girlfriend. You must be his sister." I smiled.
She smiled back. "It's odd to see my baby brother have a girlfriend."
"Well, get used to it!" I laughed. "I don't think I'm moving anywhere."
"I'm Lauren." The girl said. Jayden walked over to us.
"We're all still here." Jayden said, motioning to the others, who were still in shock that I was here.
I made my rounds, then returned to Lauren. "I just want to say, thank you for looking after Jayden. It means a lot." Lauren said, clasping one of my hands with both of hers.
"It's alright, someone had to loosen him up." I shrugged.
"Well, thank you, anyways." Lauren grinned.
"Hey, we should totally have a girls day out! Shopping, mani-pedis, that sort of thing. Can we do it today?" Emily asked.
"Totally, though I'm just about broke." I laughed. "Let's go."
~~~
The whole day was filled with shopping and gossip. Evelyn caught up with us (she had just gotten off the plane), and we spent the day trying about a million things on. We returned with two bags each.
"A little too much shopping." I laughed. I put my bags in my room, then returned to the kitchen, where everyone was.
"Hey, love." I kissed Jayden on the lips quickly. "What did you guys do?"
"Antonio dragged us out to fish, then Mike taught us how to play a video game or two." Kevin grinned. Mia walked over to him and kissed him.
"So, what's going on with you two?" Lauren asked. "Together, apart?"
"Together." We answered in unison. I laughed.
"I guess opposites attract." I grinned.
"So, everyone's moving out tomorrow?" Evelyn asked. "I'm going to miss this place."
"What's going on with you and Terry?" Mia asked.
"He got into med school in New York, so that he could be closer to me. We'll play it by ear." Evelyn shrugged.
"So many things happened here, but I can't wait for a new beginning." I smiled. "It's kind of like turning the page to reveal a new chapter."
"Well, I can't wait to read it." Evelyn said.
The next morning, everyone bid their goodbyes.
Lauren and Jayden hugged, then she hugged me. "I can't wait to see you again. I'm expecting a proposal and a kid in the future." She winked.
Jayden laughed nervously. "We'll see about that. We couldn't have done it without you sis. I wish you could stay."
"Jayden, we're a family again. You're going to see me plenty, trust me. And Ashlynn, I'll be in touch."
We walked to her bags, and Ji placed a hand on them. "Let me help you with those."
"Don't you want to say goodbye to the others?" Jayden asked.
"I'm not good with goodbyes or hellos sometimes... I just-"
"Don't worry, we'll take care of it." I nodded.
Jayden and Lauren grinned, then Lauren kissed his cheek and hugged me one last time.
"Hey! See you soon." Jayden said, earning a smile from Lauren before she disappeared behind the doors.
"Hey! Jayden! I have scored the golden ticket." Antonio held up a brochure. "An around the world fishing expedition. It's a trip of a life time! I'm going to catch fish no one's ever heard of!"
Evelyn smirked. "Sounds fishy. In a good way!"
"What about you, Eve?" I asked.
"I'm going to Manhattan, living with Terry. I'm going to get a psychology degree, and we'll see what happens after that." Evelyn shrugged. "Nothing too grand."
"Mia?" Jayden asked.
"I'm going to the culinary academy."
"Thank you." Mike whispered, looking up to the heavens. Mia caught him.
"No comments."
"I didn't say anything!" Mike protested.
"Well I can take a hint." Mia said, earning a smirk from me.
"But, I'm going to study hard, so when Antonio comes back with his rare and exotic fish, I'm going to turn it into a gourmet cuisine." Mia said, glaring at Mike.
"Kevin, what about the swim team?" Jayden asked, pulling me closer.
"Well, I just caught up with my coach the other day, and I barely have enough time to train for the Olympic qualifying tournament!" Kevin exclaimed. "It's definitely going to be hard work, but-"
"But if anyone could do it, you can!" Emily smiled. The others murmured in agreement.
"And if I get in, Mia's coming along, it'll be this summer, so you're all coming too." Kevin said. "What about you, Emily?"
"Oh, no major plans. I'm just excited I get to go home and take care of my sister. There's no place I'd rather be than at home with family."
"Mike, tell them where you're going." Mia nudged him forward.
"I kind of thought I'd go with Emily." Mike mumbled. Their hands intertwined. Jayden gave them a suggestive smile with a raised eyebrow, and I smirked.
"What, you know. In case she needs help moving her stuff." We laughed.
"Right, the moving man." Kevin laughed. "Whatever you say."
"Well, come on, Mentor's waiting." I led them out.
"So, what are you guys going to do?" Mike asked.
"I'm staying here. It's my new home. And then... I don't know. I'll get a job at a nearby bakery, teach my boyfriend how to have some fun, and we'll see. I do have dreams to get a house of our own at some point."
"I haven't really thought about it. I mean, for the first time in my life, I'm done with my Samurai duties. For now, anyway." Our fingers intertwined together. "And I wasn't even aware with Ash's plans, but I can't wait to get started."
"My place is here. The shiba house must always be ready for a next attack, even if it never comes." Ji said.
"Well, if it's any trouble, you have my number. Rangers together." Antonio thrust his hand in the middle. We all joined in for one last time.
We all put our hands in. "Samurai forever!"
Ji led Jayden over to the tables. It was their moment, so I didn't say anything.
I just wanted to stay where I was.... home.
~~~
Jayden and I looked at each other. Finally, we were alone.
"You're back. Any plans?"
"Not really, no."
"Who's your mission now?"
"You." I replied, sealing the kiss.
~~~
And that marks the end of Fighting To Love. There will be an epilogue (which I have BIG plans for). So stay tuned!!!!!
