"ASH, I'M HOME!" Jayden yelled as the front door slammed closed.

"I'M IN THE KITCHEN!" I yelled back. "EVELYN AND TERRY ARE HERE."

Jayden walked in, his clothes scattered with saw dust, his face covered in dirt. But, he was still as cute as ever.

Let me back up a bit. Jayden and I got married when I was 22, and moved into our seemingly large house at 23. Jayden was now an architect, and I was a stay at home Mom. Arabella, our 5 year old daughter, (who was born when I was 24), was upstairs, dancing while Terry played guitar for her and Kayla.

Terry and Evelyn both turned out to be therapists, with Terry working in music therapy (his specialty being the guitar) and Evelyn being a regular family psychologists. Kaylee was their 4 year old daughter. They married when I was 26.

I was still in a t-shirt and jeans, desperately needing a break from cooking so that I could shower and change. Evelyn was in her bright emerald green dress and green pumps already, an apron covering it all.

"Hey, Eve, can you take over? I gotta take a shower. Thank god it's a pot luck." I said, rushing off to the bedroom I shared with Jayden.

"Hey, Jay, can you bathe Bella? She still needs to take a bath, I'll dress her while you take a shower but right now I need a shower." I asked.

"Sure." Jayden said, giving me a quick peck on the lips.

"Love you!" I yelled, getting into the shower, the steam already closing in on me.

~~~
30 minutes later, Jayden was taking a shower. I had already dressed in a red and white dress with open toed red pumps. I dressed Arabella into a flower patterned fancy dress, and put her in some Mary Janes. I added little red triangle earrings to her pierced ears, and she twirled around, running off to go play with Kayla.
I rushed back to the kitchen, to work on the turkey while Evelyn prepared the cookies with the girls. Terry watched us with interest.
"You guys are better than Mia." He laughed. "But Mia got better, so I guess it doesn't count as a joke anymore."
Mia, surprisingly, got better at cooking. She turned into a pastry chef and was bringing the dessert. Kevin, on the other hand, won the Summer Olympics in the Swimming Category, and now coaches the local swim team. As far as I know, they don't have any kids, and aren't planning on it.
"Daddy, who's Mia?" Kayla asked.
"Neither of them have met the rest of the team?" I asked.
"I know Grandpa Xavier. And Uncle Logan, and Auntie Storm, and Auntie Kitty, and Uncle Bobby, and Uncle Beast. Is that the team?" Kayla asked.
"I met them too!" Arabella pouted. "And there's Aunt Lauren."
I laughed. "No, it's a different team. Daddy was in it." I grinned.
The doorbell rang, and Arabella ran to get it. "Ari, wait for Mommy!" I exclaimed, then jogged over (and yes, I was in heels).
Out there standing was Mike and Emily, Emily holding the salad and Mike, holding a baby. Emily was wearing a yellow lace dress.
Emily's sister Serena eventually got better, and Emily went off to get a job as a preschool teacher. Mike now creates video games for Nintendo. I didn't know they had a kid though. They never told us that they eloped, but it was clear, with the ring on Emily's ring finger.
Arabella crinkled her face. "You're not Auntie Lauren."
"Arabella." I scolded. "This is Uncle Mike and Auntie Emily. Come in, guys."
They walked in. "This is Arabella, she's my daughter, and Kayla is over there. She's Evelyn's and Terry's."
"This is James." Mike introduced the baby in his arms.
"Baby?" I asked.
"It was an accident, the condom... kind of broke." Mike blushed. "He was a surprise."
"But, we got this wonderful little boy." Emily grinned.
"EM!" Evelyn yelled, and Mike and Emily went to greet the others. Jayden came down, and they had a long talk.
~~~

A little while later, the doorbell rang. Arabella checked the window and screamed. "AUNTIE LAUREN!" She yelled, and Jayden got up to get the door.

Lauren went on to be a martial arts instructor. She was standing there, with some mashed potatoes, dressed in a tight, red dress.

"I hope I'm not too late." She grinned. She walked in and set the potatoes down before lifting Arabella up. "How's my baby girl?"

The door bell rang again, and I got it. Lauren put Arabella down. I opened the door to see Mia and Kevin, holding some pastries and soup. Mia was wearing a pink sleeveless top with a black, long, tight skirt.

"And now everyone's here." I grinned. "Ji and Antonio couldn't make it."

Arabella raced to me. "Mommy, Uncle Mike is holding something."

"This is Arabella, our daughter."

A little african boy, looking around 3 or 4 years old, came out behind Mia's legs. "And this is Adam, our son."

"Come on in."

~~~
We had all finished opening presents, the kids asleep in our laps after a very hyper sugar rush.
"Hey, Ash, remember that one day before we all left, when you said leaving was like turning the page to see a new chapter?" Emily asked.
"Yeah? I'm surprised you still remember it."
"What would the book be called?"
I thought about it for a moment, then paused, pursing my lips together. "I'd call it, Fighting to Love."
~~~
